1/ Other things we are dealing with. So many scammers selling Covid *stuff* that PayPal saw our volumes sky rocket and underwriting needed to audit transactions proving we were delivering sanitizer. Provethat we never charge until product is shipped. OK by PayPal
2/ Credit card processor held hundreds of thousands of dollars until we proved we were shipping. We have been with them for 11 years and got spooked by volumes (and we even gave them heads up). Released all funds within 48 hours of confronting them. OK now
3/ Were reported to IL Attorney General for *price gouging* by selling sanitizer $9.99/bottle because Purell charges $5.47. Wanted to see invoices. In addition to sending 5 million emails a day out, we have bought about $175,000 in advertising. Costs are high. Under review now
4/ Put Purifize hand sanitizer on Amazon in case people searched and needed it. Was only selling 200 bottles a day (we ship). Amazon algorithm removed our entire store. Still trying to appeal. (note to fragilistas depending on Amazon- Your business can go poof in a moment)
5/ The steep decline in price of oil killing sanitizer market. Second order effect is that ethanol gas makes ethanol suppliers lose $1/gallon to mix (no kidding). Ethanol plants that have not shifted to alternative products are going out of business left and right. Blind sided
6/ Called an old commodities trading buddy from old days at Chicago Board of Trade and he hooked us up. A real ethanol squeeze.

Anyone thinking it is vulgar to charge more to co crisis distribution (whether masks or sanitizer) have no clue.

1/ Caveat when in crisis distribution: To refresh, 3 phases of distribution:
1) Conventional
2) Contingency
3) Crisis

Risk escalates when you move from Crisis to Contingency and exponential when system moves to Conventional. And you can move from one phase in a moments notice.
2/ Going from water to steam changes phase quickly so you better be testing the temperature of distribution water continuously. A convex profit curve can turn concave rapidly leaving you holding the bag.
3/ Worked from home yesterday &had a conference call with mys sister and cousin (partners). Needed to place an order for ingredients & materials. Everybody (including me) were making all of these projections that admittedly were all horse sh*t guesses. Useless waste of our time

1/ Friends, my twitter feed has become a Real World Twitter Institute (nod to Nassim). Decided to chronicle this entrepreneurial journey in crisis distribution filling a supply gap. Yes, we make money but challenges pop up daily.
2/ Making hand sanitizer and distributing has been a journey. Surviving a brutal ethanol squeeze and now paying 4X the normal cost and not hesitating in paying it is a lesson to learn.
3/ Our first order of Purifize sanitizer was to produce 10,000. We now produce more than this daily. Plant owner offered to lower cost 10%, we told him keep it. He transformed his business to supply us. He is old school &did not want to pay overtime. The 10% increased production

Doctor or Hospital Admin: Why do I have to prepay you for masks when I never had to do that before
Me: Please buy from your regular source
Them: They do not have any
Me: Our normal business is selling flashlights to consumers, we are stepping in to fill supply gap
Them: How do I know your masks are legitimate
Me: You will not know until you get delivery
Them: Can I get a sample?
Me: Wouldn't I make sure the sample was good and if I was a con man, send you dust masks after you wire me the money?
Them: But this is not how we usually work
Me: Please buy from conventional sources if you can. We are a last resort
Them: But I cannot get from my normal distributor
Me: I get it. I suggest you have multiple suppliers and break up your order. Chances are a few will be legitimate
Them: But how do I know you are legit?

Arrived at a clearer view regarding what’s needed to enable nursing workforce expansion whilst maintaining standrards, and ensuring safety as best we can. 2/
First there are set of principles that must apply, regardless of solution or model adopted:
- students are students
- if they become workforce it must be their choice
- work must be outside/separated from their role as students
- they must be paid & have employment rights.

So I’m hearing many myths about #COVID-19 and would like to quickly clear the record.

Coronavirus will go away in Sumer months.

Wrong. Previous pandemics didn’t follow weather patterns plus as we enter summer, there will be winter in the Southern Hemisphere. Virus is global.
Myth #2: In summer, the virus will spread more due to mosquito bites.

Wrong. This infection is spread via respiratory droplets, not blood. Mosquitos don’t increase spread.
Myth #3: If you can hold your breath for ten seconds without discomfort, you don’t have COVID.

Wrong: Most young patients with Coronavirus will be able to hold their breaths for much longer than 10 seconds. And many elderly without the virus won’t be able to do it.
