Like many other days, I found myself angered by the lack of competent and moral leadership of our president. Today it was about the lack of coordination of Personal Protective Equipment and ventilators leading to the deaths of people in New York, Louisiana, and Michigan.
A few reflections on atrocious leadership:
Selfishness, carelessness, and arrogance in a leader can cause a group with massive resources to squander them, causing many people to die.
What is the lesson of atrocious leadership? Character matters. Someone's past incompetence and immorality predict their likely future behavior.
A person who cheats, lies, and boasts can get far in this life. They need only fool a third of people to believe the act.
For some wounded people, there is no limit to what they would do if they think it benefits themselves.
Evil, deranged, and incompetent leaders are remembered as such after their downfall. While still in power, many still hope to personally gain from the leader's flailing stabs so they numb their consciences and their minds.
Many who resist the sick leader are run over. Still, the next generation is proud to have a connection with the one who spoke up. They are ashamed to be connected with the one who went along.
The person who resists should not do so without doing their research. But once the facts are indisputable, they need not speak up in a way that offends no one.
Let us support the courageous and the truth-tellers and expose the liars and the greedy. That is the right response to atrocious leadership.
