For some reason I’m starting to think that all of those rich people who lectured millennials about the magical and timeless virtues of delayed gratification were not acting in good faith.
Never mind, I figured it out now. Delaying gratification is good if enables you to frame the inequities of an economic system you benefit from as the fault of those who are systematically disadvantaged. But it’s bad when it can save ordinary people’s lives.
