DETAILED REPORTS

#FrontlinersFirst Childcare Subsidy with Kiddocare

The MCO involved the shut down of childcare centres and schools, leaving working frontliners with young children few available avenues for childcare.
Kiddocare is a platform that matches childcare professionals (Kiddocarers) to homes that need them.

POWR has been sourcing funds to provide a 90% subsidy of the discounted cost provided by Kiddocare to frontliners.
This enables the women working as Kiddocarers to continue earning an income during the MCO, without burdening frontliners financially.

At time of writing, we have managed to subsidise 1,292 hours of childcare at a cost of RM 17,266.
Further details and a FAQ is available on our poster below, on our website [ rakyat.org/p/project-fron… ] and on Kiddocare’s website [ kiddocare.my ].
Air conditioners for Pharmacy Department, Hospital Sg. Buloh

The Pharmacy Department of Hospital Sg. Buloh was moved to Hospital Kusta Sg. Buloh because of overcrowding at the main hospital.
In order to store medicine supplies safely at the new location, four new air conditioners were required.

POWR was able to source four 2hp air conditioners from Senheng, kindly sponsored by a private donor, and arranged for the installation on site. The total cost was RM 10,436.
There were multiple challenges, including the fact that the Senheng warehouse where the air conditioners were kept had been locked by the police. Through patient persistence, the air conditioners were finally installed on the 27th of March.

#Food4Frontliners

We are working together social enterprises that deliver food (Grabfood or Foodpanda style), who from very early on hit the ground running in quickly identifying which shifts in which hospitals required food, and channeling food to those who needed them most.
POWR has thus far channeled RM 10,000 to social enterprise GoJob [ m.facebook.com/gojobmalaysia/ ] thus sponsoring about 1,000 meals) and hope to channel more.
They have sourced food donations from a wide variety of sources, including other social enterprises like PichaEats [ pichaeats.com/en/ ] (which employs refugees & other vulnerable communities) & sent them to the following locations:
• Hospital Serdang
• Hospital Sungai Buloh
• KL General Hospital

From the 28th of March 2020, Hospital Sungai Buloh will begin receiving lunch deliveries for their frontliners.
GoJob is also working on providing meals to B40 communities such as those in Flat PKNS Jalan Tun Razak that have had their incomes severely slashed due to the MCO.
Testimonials and photos from GoJob:

On the same night, we were also able to deliver meals to B40 households in PKNS flats on Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, just off Kampung Bahru.
Supporting Klinik Kesihatan with ABIM

We had some fruitful collaboration with ABIM, both in fundraising and connecting organisations with suppliers and contacts.
POWR played a small part in assisting ABIM with providing 100 surgical gowns, masks, disposable gloves, hand sanitisers, dry food, fruits, and drinks to Klinik Kesihatan Kuala Lumpur; and provided a contact that resulted in the purchase of 1,400 surgical gowns.
Homes4Heroes (POWR x KJK)

POWR has been working with our partners at KitaJaga.us to identify hotels and empty apartments in areas near hospitals to ensure our frontliners are able to get adequate rest without fear of infecting their loved ones at home.
This is especially necessary for personnel that have been transferred to frontline hospitals from other locations.

To date, we have been able to secure the support of the Tune and OYO hotel chains.
We have also received generous offers from Speedhome x Allianz, Sime Darby, and individual homeowners who have opened up their doors.

Thus far 19 doctors have been placed thanks to Sime Darby, SpeedHome, KYY Homes, and other individual owners, while 2 more cases are pending.
We also managed to persuade Grab to provide subsidised transport for frontliners (hospital cleaners, nurses, doctors, etc.) at 28 hospitals.
Testimony from a doctor at HKL:

Yeay.. i pass around the happy news.. 🙂🙂🙂All of us are worried, some of us did not go home just because did not want our old parents to get infected cause we might be asymptomatic carrier (cont'd below)
(i haven’t go back since early feb, cause i was among the earliest to respond as the frontliner). A wonderful gesture like this really light up our days.. Honestly we are crumbling, our morale are at its weakest.. with our comrade defeated and our patients deceased..
This simple act of kindness and love really lighten up our days.. Thank you so much😘
