Here is a briefing for all those "impressed" by the #tearsandswindle enacted by #LittleNapoleon in this clip in Calabar yesterday. It's not the 1st time: On 17 Jan 2017, @ben_ayade announced abolition of all forms of taxation for low-income earners in Cross River state.
According to his spokesman, Christian Ita, @ben_ayade made the order after signing the 2017 budget of the state into law, saying: “I am sounding the last warning that henceforth I don’t want to hear any1 who earns less than N50, 000 a month being taxed in any form in the state."
On that occasion, @ben_ayade also cried. But if he had occasion to "abolish" again in May 2020, the same taxes he had abolished with the same words & tears in 2017, it is because the 2017 abolition didn't work & the 2020 abolition won't work. Let's stick with the tears 1st....
In August 2016, @ben_ayade cried when he visited returning Bakassi residents in the company of visiting Mayor of Dortmund, Fuss Friedrich. Ayade announced a "donation" to them of N3m & promised that the visiting Mayor wld build houses for them. Voicemail!

March 2017, @ben_ayade hosted then visiting Commissioner of the National Commission for Migrants, Refugees & #IDPs, now Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Hajiya Sadiya Farouk. He cried again over Bakassi Returnees. 3 yrs later, he has done absolutely nothing abt them.
On 10 April, 2018, as he made to sign his N1.3trn budget of #Kinetic Crystallization into law, @ben_ayade cried again because he said the budget was going to de-couple the State from federal allocation & break the back of poverty in the state. That budget was un-funded.
Like Mauritania's rulers who "abolish" slavery every 5 yrs or Sudan "abolishing" FGM every 3 yrs, the latest swindle from #LittleNapoleon is a repeat of a tired script. He knows #Nigerians has no memory & suffer political swindle gladly.
Cross-River State has the worst revenue profile in South-South #Nigeria. It is tosh to patronise hardworking ppl by announcing tax exemption ex-cathedra. #LittleNapoleon is not a military dictator. He doesn't make tax law with tears. Tax law is made by the State House of Assembly
By the way, there is nothing wrong with poor ppl paying tax. The burden shd not be crippling, yes. But their tax is their own stake in the state, their entitlement to ask questions. What #LittleNapoleon did yesterday was tell them what he does isn't their business.
So, all those making to get impressed by #LittleNapoleon shd pls think again. Don't suffer executive swindle this easily. #LittleNapo is a practised #ConArtist. He knows u will fall for his silly swindle. Don't grant him his wish.
