/10 As restrictions are relaxed, places are reopening & the weather warms, we should all be feeling better, right? Yet this is not necessarily the case for many of us. Some are still concerned esp. about risks of #COVID19 severe outcomes. #COVIDCoping
/10 The reality is we have adapted staying at home into our daily routines over the weeks and months of the #COVID19 pandemic and it has now become our habit.
/10 Some habits that we’ve developed during #COVID19, like more frequent #handwashing and spending more time with our families, can be good things that we’ll want to carry on with going forward. #COVIDCoping
/10 Other habits during #COVID19, like increasing alcohol consumption & not being as physically active as before are clearly not so healthy and it’s important to put the effort in to replace these changes with healthier routines.
/10 Adapting to change is hard. Once we’ve made a change it can be hard to go back to previous healthy habits. Some have compared this with reverse culture shock. Whatever it is, the discomfort & inertia we feel is real. #COVID19 #Anxiety
/10 It often seems easier & less discomforting to just stick with a new habit, but when a new habit is having a negative impact, whether on our #mentalhealth, physical or social wellbeing or otherwise, it’s time to make a change for the better.
/10 I want people to know that if you are struggling, with concerns big or small, there is help & there are helpers – more than you know! Taking the next step can as easy as deciding to talk to someone close to you.

/10 If you don’t have someone nearby, there are
virtual resources available like the Wellness Together Canada portal, which includes a suite of tools that offer different levels of support to people, depending on their needs.

/10 Resources range from information & self-assessment tools, to opportunities to chat with peer support workers & other mental health professionals and some resources can be accessed without creating an account.

/10 Remember you can GO OUT SMART & safely with layers of effective #publichealth protection: #PhysicalDistancing, #Handwashing, #CoughEtiquette, & a non-medical mask or face covering when you can’t keep 2 metres apart from others.
