The volunteers of the German Technical Relief Organization (THW) went to the port area of Beirut yesterday to look for missing people, to do this,
the helpers of the rapid deployment unit salvage abroad (SEEBA) searched for missing people in the port area until the evening hours. Today the focus of the THW is on inspecting buildings around the port for security and stability.
The emergency services from THW and ISAR Germany (International Search and Rescue "Germsan first aid organization and cooperation of professionals) advising the civil defense and the city administration of #Beirut with the assessment of buildings security and stability.
They work in an area from the port to the outside. The THW has been in action in Lebanon since Thursday. A team that supports the German embassy in Lebanon and forces from SEEBA travelled to the disaster area on Wednesday evening.
The SEEBA team is supported by forces from ISAR Germany as part of an operational cooperation. The THW is the voluntary organization of the German federal government.
The commitment of almost 80,000 nationwide volunteers, half of them emergency workers, is the basis for the work of the THW in civil protection.
