1/8 COVIDenial & the Reopen Movement scl.io/BnEVFNG The following individuals and groups, who have historically focused on denying or downplaying the risk of man-made global warming, have turned their attention to the #COVID19 crisis.

2/8 The “Save Our Country Coalition” group launched with key support from FreedomWorks, #ALEC, Tea Party Patriots and Committee to Unleash Prosperity “in partnership with a coalition of conservative organizations and prominent individuals", including many members of the #CNP.

3/8 #ALEC is writing the model legislation for it's members to take back to their state legislatures to pass. First, the “Liability Protection for Employers in a Declared Disaster or Public Emergency Act" to limit the liability of businesses against employees and customers

4/8 Another #ALEC model bill seeks to limit the number of days the executive branch's emergency order can remain in effect and bars the reissuing of similar orders. bit.ly/34lPYAk

5/8 But even in this effort #ALEC is pushing it's vision of federalism, the "proper balance of power between states and the federal government" - "calling for the economy to be safely reopened....(under ALEC's) principles of limited government.

6/8 An #ALEC letter from CEO Lisa Nelson noted ALEC is "prepared to act as an ally guided by the principles of free enterprise and individual liberty. Because after a public health crisis, state legislators will need to make decisions to preserve and protect these principles."

7/8 #ALEC's ‘Across the States’ podcast, New Gingrich echoed the conservative mantra that "in responding to the pandemic, we have taken very strong public health steps which have truly screwed up the economy"... and, btw, California's shutdown is "an abuse of governmental power"
