The effort to convince Americans that #COVID19 is a #ChineseWuhanVirus is being pushed by conservatives attempting to deflect blame for the government's weak response, trying to frame the virus and keep it from being Trump's #Katrina moment. Please follow this thread to see how👇
The effort is led by the National Center for Public Policy Research (#NCCPR) and the Media Research Center (MRC). NCPPR started it's own Voter Identification Task Force after the #ALEC caved in to public pressures to dismantle it's Public Safety and Elections Task Force.
The National Center for Public Policy Research was also home to Jack Abramoff's defauding of #NativeAmerican tribes. #NCPPR directed money received from tribes and distributed it to other "charities," at Abramoff's direction. sourcewatch.org/index.php/Nati…
The #NCPPR also has numerous ties to the Council for National Policy (#CNP), starting with Abramoff's membership in the group. This is not in the well-noted 2014 Membership Directory, but research @anelsona notes his membership in her book #ShadowNetwork (p.129)
The funding for the National Center for Public Policy Research (#NCPPR) comes from sources associated with the Council For National Policy (#CNP) and also the #KochNetwork.
The Board of Directors at The National Center for Public Policy Research (#NCPPR) shows members from George Mason University (aka #Koch Univ.), the Young America's Foundation, and #SPN members #ALEC, the Heritage Foundation, and the Hoover Institution

The other group leading the conservative effort to frame #COVIDー19 as a #ChineseVirus is the Media Research Center, a conservative media watchdog group run by president and founder (#CNP member) Brent Bozell sourcewatch.org/index.php/Medi…
The #Mercer Family Foundation was a HUGE donor to the Media Research Center. $3million in 2012, $1.8million in 2011, $1.2million in 2010, $1million in 2019 - the largest donation the foundation made in each of those years! web.archive.org/web/2016120223…
And indeed, the other conservative groups represented on the letter included FreedomWorks, the Intercollegiate Studies Institute, the Young America’s Foundation - All #CNP-funded, as well as the Council for National Policy itself.
But here's something I had not yet heard. Not only are conservatives framing #COVID19 as the #ChinaVirus, but their letter goes as far as to"specifically cite efforts by the Chinese government to blame the United States for the spread of the Wuhan Coronavirus.”

I'm noticing a lot of white pple on twitter sharing their #COVIDー19 status+protocol for being diagnosed (which is helpful) but also wow: publicizing your sickness knowing it won't be racialized is a different kind of privilege...
Sick white people are individuals to be treated for their illness(es) accordingly. Sick BIPOC are an infected monolith to be avoided at all costs.
