Top of the day to all our Twitter family and a warm welcome to today's edition of our programme, #TheAfricanFarmersStories where we recognize and celebrate farmers in #Africa for their selfless contribution to the Continent.
I'm your host, Edobong Akpabio. Welcome!!! @FarmCafe
Many people don't know the massive opportunities in the agro-media sub-sector. Today, we have another unique guest, Oluyinka Alawode. She has covered the #agriculture industry as a journalist. Let's get to know more about her on #TheAfricanFarmersStories @FarmersStories
Oluyinka Elizabeth Alawode studied Agriculture at the University of Ilorin and later focused on Agricultural Extension. After graduation, she explored different vocations, all the while, also engaged in freelance writing. #TheAfricanFarmersStories @S4AfricaSMEs
While working as an agricultural journalist interviewing farmers, agro-processors, visiting farms, attending conferences within and outside Nigeria, Yinka discovered that there was an information gap in the #agribusiness industry. #TheAfricanFarmersStories @agronigeria
Knowing that ICT is vital to the development of agribusiness, Yinka established Farm Café – an agribusiness information service in 2016, as a social enterprise to provide information, digital marketing and B2B networks for stakeholders in the industry. #TheAfricanFarmersStories
Oluyinka Alawode keeps exploring different ways of using ICT media to support existing and aspiring operators in the agribusiness industry. She has won several awards, locally and abroad, as a journalist. We refer to her today, as an agro-mediapreneur. #TheAfricanFarmersStories
Yinka is also a writer. She has not only written books for children and adults, but she also plans to write novels and film scripts on agriculture that interested investors can develop into movies to spread knowledge on agriculture. #TheAfricanFarmersStories #agriculture #book
Q1. Yinka, you’re welcome to #TheAfricanFarmersStories 👏👏👏. The programme recognizes and celebrates the efforts and accomplishments of the farmers in #Africa. As an agro-mediapreneur, what is the role of the media in the development of #Agriculture in #Africa? #agriculture
