Historic wrongs & abuses against Native Americans, 2 1/2 centuries of slavery, a 100 yrs of Jim Crow & a history of exclusionary immigration policies have created profound & lasting inequities in income,wealth,education,employment, housing,environment & health care for #POC 2/12

#Democrats are committed to standing up to racism and bigotry in our laws, in our culture, in our politics, and in our society, and recognize that race-neutral policies are not sufficient to rectify race-based disparities. 3/12 #DemPartyPlatform #racialjustice #WealthGap

#Democrats know we must eliminate #poverty and close the racial wealth gap, promoting asset building and #homeownership, #education, #healthcare, #criminaljusticereform, #environmentaljustice, and #votingrights. 5/12 #DemPartyPlatform

#Democrats will ensure federal data collection & analysis is adequately funded &designed to allow for disaggregation by race &ethnicity,among other important factors,to better design policies to address the needs of the most vulnerable communities &make informed policy choices.

#Democrats believe #Blacklivesmatter, and will establish a national commission to examine the lasting economic effects of slavery, Jim Crow &racially discriminatory federal policies on income, wealth, educational, health, and employment outcomes;
and to study reparations. 11/12

#Democrats know we must acknowledge that there can be no realization of the American dream without grappling with the lasting effects of slavery, and facing up to the centuries-long campaign of violence, fear, and trauma wrought upon Black Americans.12/12 #DemPartyPlatform
