Neither of the two officers filmed killing #WalterWallaceJr in a hail of bullets seemed to try using their taser first.
His father says he was going through a mental health crisis and that his mother was working to deescalate the situation.

Philly Mayor Jim Kenney expressed sympathy for the family, promising an investigation. However, the investigation is under the auspices of the same police department that shot and killed Walter Wallace, Jr. today.

#WalterWallaceJr was holding a knife at the time he was shot - he appeared to be several arms lengths away from the two officers when they fired what could have been up to a dozen shots.

Protests over Wallace's killing have taken a more militant tone tonight reminiscent of the early days of the #GeorgeFloyd uprising in West Philly.
Bricks, bottles and trash cans were thrown at officers, with several PPD officers injured; some also reportedly run over by a truck.

Philadelphia’s lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police, which supported officers involved in brutalizing protesters earlier this year, has indicated it will defend the cops who ended Walter Wallace, Jr.’s life while his family watched.
