🔥Joint op-ed by David Boies and Theodore B. Olson: We opposed each other in Bush v. Gore.

Now, we agree: Biden won.🇺🇸💙

“We represented the opposing sides in Bush v. Gore. We still don’t agree about how SCOTUS ruled, but we completely agree that nothing in that case—or in SCOTUS’ decision—supports the challenges now being thrown about in an attempt to undermine #PresidentElect @JoeBiden’s victory”
🔥”Over the past week, we have heard repeated assertions that the outcome of this election is somehow in doubt, as it was in 2000.

It is not. Biden will be president.”💥

“Political candidates have an obligation not to inflame passions & undermine the public’s faith in democracy with unsupported charges of fraud & malfeasance. And the lawyers who represent those candidates have an obligation to the courts not to make frivolous claims or arguments.

🚨BREAKING: Good news! #Moderna says preliminary data show that its #coronavirus vaccine was 94.5% effective in protecting study volunteers from #COVID19.

Of 95 people who got #COVID19 with symptoms, 90 had placebo and only 5 had Moderna’s #vaccine.
wsj.com/articles/moder…
Moderna also says that the preliminary data show that its #vaccine is safe, but they still await longer-term safety results that will be available in late November.🙏

#coronavirus #COVID19
Although preliminary—and we will need to see data published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal—Moderna’s results “are very impressive and very encouraging and exciting results,” per Dr. Fauci.

If all goes well, Moderna’s #vaccine could be authorized by FDA next month!

In-home gatherings are fueling #coronavirus spread.

As I warned, we are "heading down the path to Hell...

If you get together with grandma for #Thanksgiving, you may be burying her at #Christmas."

PLEASE don't gather in person for the holidays.🙏🏼

👏🏼GREAT NEWS! A new type of test detects T-cell response to the #coronavirus, which may be a better indicator of immunity and clinical outcome than antibodies.

Antibodies can wane, but people may remain IMMUNE to the virus due to T cells.

@apoorva_nyc
nytimes.com/2020/11/10/hea…
Researchers analyzed samples from 2,200 people in Vo #Italy, which tested all 2,900 residents for the #coronavirus in March when cases were soaring. The T-Detect test correctly identified 97% who had a confirmed diagnosis vs. only 77% from a commercial antibody test.💉

#COVID19
T cells specific to a virus can be difficult & expensive to detect via traditional methods. Adaptive Technologies cleverly designed a test to detect T-cell receptors that recognize the #coronavirus – all made possible by the advent of fast and inexpensive sequencing technologies.

🚨BREAKING: @US_FDA grants emergency use authorization for Eli Lilly monoclonal antibody (mAb) drug—bamlanivimab—to treat mild to moderate #coronavirus infections in adults and children.

The drug is similar to Regeneron’s mAb cocktail, but has only 1 mAb.
cnn.com/2020/11/09/hea…
FDA authorization was based on a study of 452 patients with mild to moderate #COVID19 that found that the mAb treatment decreased viral load, lowered the risk of hospitalization and eased some symptoms.

@NEJM
nejm.org/doi/full/10.10…
In this study of 452 patients with mild-moderate #COVID19, only 1.6% given the mAb treatment had symptoms progress such that they needed to be hospitalized or seek care in the emergency department. For patients who got the placebo, the rate of hospitalization was 6.3%.

🚨BREAKING: Great news! @Pfizer says an early analysis of its #coronavirus vaccine trial by independent experts found the vaccine to be >90% effective in preventing #COVID19 in previously uninfected healthy people. No serious safety concerns were observed.
bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
Pfizer plans to ask the @US_FDA for emergency authorization of its 2-dose #coronavirus vaccine later this month, after it has collected the recommended 2 months of safety data. By the end of the year it will have manufactured enough doses to immunize 15 to 20 million people.🦠💉
The vaccine relies on messenger RNA (mRNA) technology never before used in an approved vaccine. The #mRNA is genetic material that encodes a #coronavirus protein, turning the body’s cells into #vaccine factories, allowing it to be developed much faster than a traditional vaccine.

⚠️WORRISOME. In addition to the deaths from the #coronavirus, there are known long-term effects of #COVID19 in survivors.

New study says survivors may have significant decline in brain function—the worst cases equivalent to the brain ageing by 10 years.🧠
reuters.com/article/health…
This UK study of 84,285 people found cognitive deficits “of substantial effect size,” particularly in people hospitalized with #COVID19—the worst cases showed impacts “equivalent to the average 10-year decline in global performance between the ages of 20 to 70”.🧠🦠
IMPORTANT: The cognitive function of the participants was not known pre-#COVID, so they couldn’t compare before and after scores (best way to show change within a person). And the study included a large number of people who self-reported having had #COVID19—but no positive test.
