1-Multiple commentaries have come and gone about the great #GayatriMantra.

I have personally found the exposition by Swami #Sivananda and Swami Chinmayananda worthwhile. (1/20)

2-For the next few days, we shall talk about the #GayatriMantra – the pinnacle of #Japa #Sadhana

Here is laying out my little understanding. (2/20)

3-ॐ भूर्भुवः स्वः तत् सवितुर्वरेण्यम् ।

भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि। धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात् ॥ (3/20)

4-ॐ- Symbol of the Para Brahman

भूः - Bhu-Loka (Physical Plane)

भुवः - Antariksha Loka(Astral Plane)

स्वः - Svarga-Loka (Celestial Plane)

तत् - That, Transcendent, Paramatman

सवितुः - Ishvara or Creator

वरेण्यम् - Fit to be Worshipped or Adored (4/20)

5-भर्ग - Remover of sins and ignorance; Glory, Effulgence

देवस्य - Resplendent (Jnana-Svarupa); Shining

धीमहि - We meditate

धियः - Buddhi, intellect, understanding

यः - Which, Who

नः - Our

प्रचोदयात् . Enlighten, guide, impel (5/20)

6-We meditate on that #Ishvara's Glory

..who has created the #Universe,

..who is fit to be worshipped,

..who is the embodiment of #Knowledge and #Light,

..who is the remover of all sins and ignorance

May He enlighten our intellects. (6/20)

7-What is that #enlightenment?

Now you have Deha-Atmabuddhi,

..a #Buddhi that makes you to identify yourself with the body, to mistake the body for Soul. (7/20)

8-Through this Mantra, you are praying to the blessed Mother of the #Vedas - #Gayatri, bestow on you a Shuddha-Sattva-Buddhi

..which will help you to realize "Aham Brahma Asmi" - "I am #Brahman." (8/20)

9-This is an #Advaitic meaning of #Gayatri.

Advanced students of Yoga may take up this meaning:

"I am That Supreme Light of lights which gives light to the Buddhi or intellect." (9/20)

10-In the Gayatri Mantra there are 9 names, viz.,

1. Om,

2. Bhuh,

3. Bhuvah,

4. Svah,

5. Tat,

6. Savituh,

7. Varenyam,

8.Bhargah and

9. Devasya.

Through these nine names the Lord is praised. (10/20)

11-'Dheemahi' signifies worship of or meditation on the Lord.

'Dhiyo Yo Nah Prachodayat' is a prayer. (11/20)

12-Herein there are five halts or stops, viz.,

'Om' is the first stop

'Bhur Bhuvah Svah' the second;

'Tat Savitur Varenyam' the third;

'Bhargo Devasya Dheemahi' the fourth

and 'Dhiyo Yo Nah Prachodayat' the fifth. (12/20)

13-While chanting and doing Japa of the Mantra, should stop a little at every stop or halt.

15-he nīlakaṇṭha vṛṣabhadhvaja pañcavaktra

lokeśa śeṣavalaya pramatheśa śarva ;

he dhūrjaṭe paśupate girijāpate māṃ

saṃsāraduḥkhagahanājjagadīśa rakṣa. (15/20)

16-O You! Blue-necked One,

the Bull-Ensigned,

the Five-faced One,

the Lord of the spheres,

adorned with the snake,

the Lord of the goblins,

the Auspicious One, (16/20)

17-O You! With matted locks,

the Lord of the creatures,

and of #Girijā (Divine Mother),

O You! Lord of the universe,

Protect me who am forlorn

in the wilderness of the miseries of this world (#Samsāra). (17/20)

18-#Buddha famously said, #Life is #Suffering.

Instead, it is one of the first great #Truths of #Buddhism

My own personal attempt towards alleviating suffering in this world is #charity and giving people the best advise I can. (18/20)

19-To that end, I use #Astrological Consultations – wherein the intent is - to raise money and donate the proceeds to charity.

Join me in this #Yajna

Those seeking a personal consultation - please send a Direct Message. (19/20)

20-Money thus generated, shall be given to charity.

Preference will be given to those, with acute issues.

May #Goddess #Saraswati guide this little effort of mine with her own hands.! (20/20)

1-What could be a man’s point-of-opening into the #Vedic Corpus?

For me it is #Ayurveda, #VedicAstrology and #Vastu. (1/16)

2-Vedic #Astrology that ways is well & truly a #Vedanga…for it virtually has answers to every question one might have

If one has a subtle enough perception! (2/16)

3-Consider this from the works of #Parashara.

This is used as a tool for #BirthTimeRectification and #PrashnaAstrology by #Jyotishis

..especially in the #Tamil School of #VedicAstrology. (3/16)

1-What is the #Philosophy of #Japa and why is it important for #Sadhana?

What Is Japa?

Japa is the repetition of any Mantra or Name of the Lord. (1/15)

2-In this Kali Yuga or iron age when the physique of the vast majority of persons is not good,

..rigid Hatha Yogic practices are very difficult.

Japa is an easy way to God-realization. (2/15)

3-Tukaram, Dhruva, Prahlada, Valmiki Rishi, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa -

..all had attained salvation by uttering the Name of God. (3/15)

1-One of the most important houses in the #BirthChart is the 5th House

In #WesternAstrology, the 5th House is the House of the #InnerChild – signifying #Creativity, #Play and #Leisure.

No wonder, #Children are seen from this house. (1/8)

2-#Romantic relationships and gambling activities are also seen from the 5th House.

5th House activities an individual indulges in

..are supposed to bring him #Joy, #Delight and Creative Expression.

3-According to the traditional practitioners of #Astrology,

..the 5th House also stands for the notion of creating your #Legacy – the cache of #Karmas that will last.

#Grahas in the 5th House often show how we #Love and how do we make others #Feel, deep down. (3/8)

1-To define God is to deny #God.

You can give the definition to a finite object.

How can you define limitless or the #Infinite Being

..who is the source and ultimate cause for everything? (1/15)

2-If you define God you are limiting the limitless one, you are confining Him with concepts of mind.

God is beyond the reach of the gross mind,

..but He can be #realized through #Japa and #meditation

..with a pure, subtle and one-pointed mind. (2/15)
3-#Manasika #Puja (mental worship) is more powerful than external Puja with flowers, etc.

Arjuna thought that Bhima was not doing any kind of worship.

He was proud of his external worship of Lord #Shiva.

He offered plenty of Bilva leaves. (3/15)

1-A constant question I receive from people is

..what is the significance of empty houses in a #BirthChart?!

Does an empty house in your chart mean, that no action will happen there?

And are these meaningless?! (1/8)

2-Or does it mean that every house should have one planet?!

This is how #Astrologers look at it

Most charts have a handful of empty houses.

No chart has all the houses filled up with #Grahas. (2/8)

3-Clearly, those houses that have the most number of planets in your chart

..tell you that these house significations,

..or #Bhavas will play an important role in your life (3/8)
