There are 28 sports tournaments/ trophies and 19 stadiums named after Nehru, Indira and Rajiv including highest sport award. Here is a list of cricket stadiums alone.
Children choose a sport that has more visibility, success, role models, and of course money. People like Dalmiya, Srinivas, Lalit Modi brought a lot of money to cricket. The money that was used to build sporting infrastructure & establish cricket as a viable career option.
It is because of money in sport that today even past heroes are given a pension that is more than the money they paid in their career.
Do not forget that even our world cup captain Kapil Dev washed his stained trousers in the hotel to save laundry money.
Today the public has become very cynical & abuses every successful person. It is possible that someone like Lalit Modi may have taken some shortcuts but can we deny his contribution to Indian Cricket?
What did the experts like @Ram_Guha appointed by Supreme Court achieve?
An old article on Jagmohan Dalmiya. Why should there not be few cricket stadiums named after him instead of Nehrus and Gandhis?
Allegations of corruption against Jaitley have been made before also. In 2015, the Delhi government set up a three-member investigation committee after #BishanSinghBedi & Kirti Azad approached Delhi Chief Minister @ArvindKejriwal & requested for his intervention in the matter.
But what was the result. He could not prove anything in court and APOLOGISED after Jaitley lodged a defamation case on him.
Jaitely was a Supreme Court lawyer. And with his skills and influence, he could have made hundreds of crores every year in his practice. Most leading SC lawyers make that kind of money. What is the DDCA budget compared to that? Not even 10%.
Think about it.
Mr. #ArunJaitley was finance minister for 5 long years & even defense minister for some time. How easy was it to make money with these portfolios?
If he was so hungry for money, then why did he surrender his official house and other perks within one week of leaving office?
That too when a nonentity like Motilal Vohra had not one, not two, not even four but NINE Sarkari houses till 2014.
Imagine NINE houses funded by taxpayers.
And talking of #BishanSinghBedi, this article is also worth reading. I still remember how he mocked Navdeep Saini and today same Saini is an elite fast bowler for India after being helped by @GautamGambhir
Indian Muslims protesting against @EmmanuelMacron because he has spoken against Islamic terror after #Francebeheading & expects Muslims living in France to respect the secular French constitution raises a very important question.
What comes first to them - Religion or Nation
This is not the first time, Indian Muslims have shown solidarity with Muslims in other nations. They have been very vocal about Muslim causes around the world & opposed even #CAA that had nothing to do with them.
A thread on Ummah, Caliphate, Khilafat movement & Indian Muslims
Ummah means community. It is distinguished from shaʻb, which means a nation. Today It is a synonym for Ummat al-Islām, meaning the Islamic community and it is commonly used to mean the collective community of Muslim people across countries.
First is for fast tracking citizenship to persecuted minorities of three Islamic states. No Indian of any religion should have any problem with that. So stop opposing #CitizenshipAct on its own merits first.
@BDUTT@htTweets Now let’s talk of #NRC. First of all there are no specific details of same are in public domain yet. But let’s start with objective.
It seeks to identify citizens of our nation from non citizens (illegal infiltrators who are here for other reasons than religious persecution)
@BDUTT@htTweets Again no indian is an affected party in #NRC At least theoretically.
Yes. Concerns about lack of documents in spite of being genuine citizens are genuine and understandable. And we need to wait for details on the process before indulging in violent protests on imaginary fears
Because they are being persecuted precisely for that reason. Their religion. These three countries are Islamic states which discriminate against others by law, by design. All of them have discriminatory constitution.
3/n
that prevents people of other faiths from occupying highest offices. All of them have draconian blasphemy laws which are often invoked to jail, even kill people of other faiths on slightest provocation.
Pl read this article by @davidfrawleyved on SitaramJi, a prolific writer on broad range of social, historical and religious issues. He challenged communism in India, when it was fashionable to be a leftist. His work on massive Islamic destruction of Hindu temples is unparalleled
