There is NO reason to worry abt spike in COVID-19 cases in Delhi.

Just track, but don’t overreact.

1. Protect the vulnerable (60+ and children & adults with pre-existing conditions)

2. Remember, children are at d lowest risk. The schools should continue to be open.

3. Even if cases r reported, no need of partial or any closure of schools. Inform authorities and parents abt the case and continue routine functioning.

4. Fumigation and sanitisation is not very helpful.

5. Focus on ventilation in closed spaces, specially school

6. The mask should continue to be voluntary. No mandate

7. Increase awareness for COvId apt behaviour .

Why any restriction unlikely2make difference?

a. Delhi has had high seroprevalence/ positivity in range of 90% and 100% population received atleast 1 vaccine 💉

Doklam. ... In June 2017 a military standoff occurred between China and India as China attempted to extend a road on the Doklam plateau southwards near the Doka La pass and Indian troops moved in to prevent the Chinese. India claimed to have acted on behalf of Bhutan, with which
which it has a 'special relationship'.
The incursion that happened in 2017 is verified via satellite images & it's in that very position, Chinese troops now. So, the failed state was agreed yo their place of interest ( That's what we call failure of a state machinery).
Since 5th to 11th of May, 2020, the chinese troops went on their invasion so as to get in to 5 kms of Indian union. Why didn' t lndian state block it? (Again, a state of losers'). After #Doklam unrest in 2017, there were 2 diplomatic summits held between India & China, one at

On this #AprilFoolsDay, recounting some instances from #Parliament which had us fooled in the last one year:

1. Delaying discussing #FinanceBill for almost a week and then passing it without discussion in #LokSabha, because #Parliament had to be shut due to #COVID outbreak
2. On last day of curtailed #BdgetSession in #RajyaSabha, 7 Money Bills were returned in 5 hours, with 2 Appropriation Bills and all 154 clauses and 5 schedules of Finance Bill put to vote together without any discussion and cleared in 5 minutes

3. Sending #DataProtection Bill to specially constituted Joint Parliament Committee headed by a BJP MP instead of already existing Standing Committee headed by an Opposition MP

Why #CAA_NRC_NPR is much needed?

India is a sovereign country. Every country maintains a right to control its borders & the government decides who comes enters, who stays for how long & which documents are necessary for the alien visitors to provide.
Our country has had a long history of continuous invasion & barbaric subjugation of the natives through forced conversions, beheadings, rapes, kidnapping, destruction of our places of worship, etc. #CAA_NRC_NPR
To a great extent such behaviour has been reduced, but it unfortunately rears it ugly head whenever Muslim population rises above 25% of the total population. For example, Lebanon. #CAA_NRC_NPR

I ask you @capt_amarinder to clarify if you are opposed to giving relief to persecuted Sikhs under the #CitizenshipAmendmentAct and whether you are fighting to get the entire Act rejected to end the relief given to Sikhs under the #CAA. /1 Image
Opposing the #CAA does nothing except fulfilling the anti-Sikh agenda of the @INCIndia. If you are really serious about giving relief to persecuted Sikhs in Pakistan and Afghanistan @capt_amarinder you should join the @Akali_Dal_ in seeking inclusion of Muslims in the CAA. /2
Rather than trying to befool Punjabis and create a smoke screen to divert attention from the abysmal failure of your government on all fronts @capt_amarinder you should tell Punjabis how Muslims will gain if the Sikhs are denied benefit under the #CAA. /3

Is this the most important thing that had to be done now, they ask.

In the same Parliament session where #CAB was passed, GoI also passed FIFTEEN other bills. Including The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Bill, 2019…
Why was this done in a hurry, they ask.

2014 and 2019 manifestos AND campaign speeches were clear on this. The bill was debated in the Parliamentary committees before being introduced, debated and passed in the Lok Sabha in the year 2016. Yes, 2016.
Why these three countries only, they ask.

Turns out we gave citizenship to Srilankan Tamils and Indian origin people from Uganda, for ethnic persecution. Yet, didn't take a stand on persecution of religious minorities in these three countries.

#NRC #CAA #CAB thread
# 1/20
1. #NRC started in 1980s in Assam. Was Signed 1985. Originally as Assam Accord. Was predecessor of NRC (or a register of citizens)
2. It was signed by Late Shri Rajeev Gandhi
3. Yup you read it right, NOT Rahul Gandhi, but Late Shri Rajeev Gandhi
# 2/20
4. Then it was made PAN INDIA in 2004 December by CONGRESS lead Sonia / MMS govt adding clauses 4 & 14a. Further amended in 2009 by same Congress lead government!! Yes INC ~ Congress
5. So BJP is JUST implementing #NRC , BJP have NOT created NRC
# 3/20
6. It is NRC that creates a REGISTER of citizens. NOT #CAB / NOT #CAA, but Congress created NRC
7. All the halla on "Proof of citizenship" is because of #NRC !! not CAB / CAA .
pls see full thread B4 answering !!

Priyanka Gandhi & all student protests seem to be focused solely on #CAA. But #NRC is the bigger danger. Do people realize that? In 2018 INC boasted it had created NRC & had deported 82728 Bangladeshis whereas the BJP had deported only 1822. #CAA_NRC…
The #CAB is a decoy. It's a red herring - that was bound to cause #CAAProtests to errupt to draw attention away from #NRCBill. CAB is to NRC what the #Dataprotectionbill is to #Aadhaar. The real danger is from Aadhaar. Like it is from NRC. @Stupidosaur?
Explanation :The #CABBill does not specifically say it will not give citizenship to Muslim immigrants. If it does, the #CAA will straight away go to court as it's blatantly Unconstitutional. But the #NRC which is random, can easily target more Muslims if that's BJP govt's aim.

To everyone who may eventually rea this, I wanted to help those not in India understand what #CAA or #CAB is and why many parts of India are rising in protest, leading to a suppression of dissent using police force, which may or may not be reported on in the press.
The government of the nationalist, Right-wing party carried out an exercise in the Indian state of Assam where they drew up a Citizen's List. Anyone who didn't appear on the list had to then appear before tribunals and prove that they *were* citizens of India. (2)
Ostensibly done to weed out illegal immigrants, it was widely perceived as an anti-Muslim exercise, designed to disenfranchise Muslim citizens, in keeping with the Hindutva (or Hindu supremacist) ideals of the ruling party, on the strength of which it roared into power. (3)

My own position on #CAA2019 has been - it is sound in principle (read @pratimbose article👇) and nothing wrong constitutionally (as explained by none other than Harish Salve). But, I anticipate serious issues in implementation. Therefore, other than the #NorthEast #CABProtests /2
#CABPolitics e.g. in #Assam where it is a live issue (but religion agnostic as they are against all immigrants changing the demographics of the region) for the rest of India it is largely an academic issue. Therefore, #CABProtests in the name of “secularism” ill-conceived 3/n
3/n Besides, #CAA2019 has been passed by an act of Parliament and not by any Presidential Diktat. If it has to be undone - it cannot be through violence and vandalism. Those upholding the Constitutional values - must also adopt democratic means and not promote mobocracy #CAB 4/n

There's been a lot of talk on #CAB, some in good faith, some uninformed, others plain bigoted. A thread on this complicated, complex issue that dates back to colonised India (imp to keep this in mind). Views expressed here will be different to yesterday's due to change in curator
There’s a huge difference between an “anti-immigration” sentiment of the bigoted kind by a powerful majority and the resistance to immigration by people whose autonomy over their own land has been historically undermined by people they consider outsiders or oppressors.
For instance, the "anti-immigrant" sentiment among white Europeans against immigrants from countries they had colonized and continue to plunder is bigotry. Or in India- where Muslim citizens are framed as outsiders or immigrants.

#CAB After discussion w friend @sumanbery, I see 2 genuine, debatable issues wrt CAB. Shouid (1) religious minorities be defined by common world view or accept PakConstitution's defn of Ahmadi as non-Muslim (2) Religous minorities from Sri Lanka,Nepal, Bhutan be covered by CAB
2/ Reasonable ppl cn hv diff views on these 2 issues. I would reject the 2nd on Geoploitical & pragmatic grounds, ignoring logical consistency. I am torn on 1st issue bcs in World's eyes Ahamadi are part of Muslim majority, but in Pakistan they are a declared minority since 1974
3/ There's no logical connection btwn CAB & NRC.The existence or not of a CAB has no relevance to what will or not happen to NRC, which was directed by a Supreme Court judgement/direction decades ago & has been held in limbo bcs of implementation difficulties(now visible in Assam

I have converted my leftist friend in support of #CAB. They are just highly ignorant of facts. Opposition has succeeded in spreading paranoia among them. Let's face it with light of truth. Debate them, don't troll.

Friend: Why make muslims secondary class citizens?

Me: #CAB is in no way related to Indian muslims. It just gives citizenship to religious minorities of neighbouring Islamic republics. (1)
Friend: What about Rohingya or Lanka Tamils?

Me: They are waging violent secessionist movement against Myanmar & SriLanka. There's a political angle to it. Moreover these countries aren't partitioned from India based on religion. Also Rohingyas have Bangladesh to go. (2)

🔴🔴🔴Long Thread 🔴🔴🔴

Topic: The #NRC v #CAB Debate

Given the umpteen opinions and point of views surrounding NRC and CAB, I wanted to write a simple and neutral point of view on these 2 bills, covering pros & cons of the same.

#CABBill #NRC #RajyaSabha #LokSabha #AmitShah
Before I start. If any of you notice glaring errors or misjudgement in my thread, I'm more than happy to hear you. But let's keep the thread / replies civil.

#CABBill #NRC #RajyaSabha #LokSabha #AmitShah
Firstly, let's see what each bill stands for.

NRC - Now only limited to Assam focuses on deciding the citizenship of those living in #Assam by judging their residentship/presence (or that of their ancestors) before March 24, 1971.

Amit Shah, Home Minister starts his speech on #CitizenshipAmendmentBill2019

It was expected that minorities in Pakistan and India will be protected, but same didnt happen
