I deeply relate to this. After almost dying of ❤️ failure from #Lyme & being told by 11 “top” docs that in spite of my tick bite, bullseye, & classic symptoms, I could not poss still have it after a short course of doxy. Well, I did. 1/
And after the 12th doc saved my life (thx @StevePhillipsMD), I wrote my story in @HuffPost. I didn’t think anyone would care. But they did. The editor called & asked me to keep writing about this scandal as so many ppl were reading my story. 2/ huffpost.com/entry/how-11-t…
So I kept writing and began hearing from people all over the world, including a nurse from Ghana, who used my story to guide them back to health. I even interviewed celebrities who had gone through it like Daryl Hall. 3/ m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_11…
And Kris Kristofferson, who had Lyme-induced #Fibromyalgia & #Alzheimer’s and got better after finally getting the right diagnosis and being treated w antibiotics. The Alzheimer’s drugs never worked! His remarkable story here. 4/ m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_57…
By this time, many were reading my column. Over a million. @CDCgov & med societies like @IDSAInfo, whose awful guidelines were what got us all into trouble, do not like being exposed. For context, the chronic #Lyme scandal has lots of political/medical overlap to Covid. 5/
Because once you understand, as I then did, that common, underlying infections cause a huge range of #autoimmune, #psychiatric, and neurologic illness, you know the dirty little secret. There’s no $ in cures (like cheap antibiotics) but billions in chronic illness. 6/
I was enraged beyond words when I learned that. And it didn’t take long because once you have articles that are read by so many people, you hear from thousands of them. And you hear from physicians who are scared to speak up and go against guidelines that they know are wrong. 6/
I was then asked to be interviewed, along w my doc, @StevePhillipsMD, for what would become an Emmy-winning special called “Lyme & Reason” on @fox5ny. Thank u, @LewsView. Here is our unedited interview that will likely help someone you know. 7/
Also on this special, to refute every true thing anyone said, was @cdc gatekeeper, Paul Mead. What Paul & CDC didn’t anticipate was our bulletproof response, also read by tons of people. CDC didn’t like this & ignored several requests for comment. 8/ m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_11…
They also didn’t expect a renowned Duke oncologist who lost his heart to chronic #Lyme to publicly compare it to cancer. Specifically, he called it “the infectious disease equivalent of cancer.” He truly despised MDs & scientists who lied abt this fact. 9/ huffpost.com/entry/lyme-the…
Around this time, a fairly well-known physician showed up at my apartment in New York City under a false premise in order to threaten me to “back down off IDSA & channel your anger into your music.” Two people witnessed it, incl my husband. 10/
He demanded, “What’s your GOAL w all this?!” Instead of scaring me, it made my resolve stronger. I kicked him out & told him not to contact me again. Regardless of uphill battle, backed by huge Pharma $$ & conflicts of interest, I’d go harder & further to expose the truth. 11/
So after all the press we did together, my brilliant doc @StevePhillipsMD & I got a book deal. Note to naysayers: we even had a five-publisher bidding war. Everyone who read it was aghast by how the science directly contradicted IDSA/ CDC guidelines & public messaging. 13/
The book is “CHRONIC: The Hidden Cause of the Autoimmune Pandemic & How to Get Healthy Again.” We address range of infections that cause chronic illness, incl #COVID19. It’s out Feb 2! Pls spread the word. We can no longer allow this madness to be ignored. bit.ly/2KEnj3X
Moral of the story: FIND ROOT CAUSE & don't settle for lifelong immune suppressants, pain meds, & psych drugs without a thorough investigation. Lyme & other infections are linked to #MS, #Fibro, #RA, #Anxiety, #Depression, #Insomnia, #OCD, #IBS, & many more. U can get better!

For the record, we must abolish terms like "post-viral" or "post-infectious" that can misinform treatment. Semantics matter. Pathogenic persistence should be kept on the table unless it is thoroughly ruled out. There are many chronic, stealth infections that go unrecognized.
1/ I get that health care workers should be prioritized when it comes to wearing masks. And I get that there is a shortage, and that is very concerning and upsetting. I pray that changes in the coming days and weeks.
2/ However, the official messaging to the public that masks will not benefit them, and in fact, could harm them or that they are simply unnecessary, is extremely reckless and offensive in light of the CDC's own data (and common sense).
3/ I think it’s fair to caution the public not to hoard, & to let health care workers get them first. But I do NOT think the public should be lied to. This is a dire situation & we have a right to know the truth so we can make the best poss decisions for ourselves & families.
