And we are live with the first meeting of 2021 with TM Shilpa Gupta. (A #Live Tweet Thread) Theme: Year 2021: Every Cloud has a #silverlining

SAA TM Shilpa begins with a pleasant welcome and New Year wishes.
She congratulates the new EC, states the mission of #Toastmasters, and states the rules of a general #meeting
The newly elected President (TM Sanjeev Gupta) is on the Virtual Stage
The #President has welcomed the guests. Fun fact, a lot of guests have been a part of @tmwestdelhi previously. Great to have them back!
The Potential #toastmasters are ambitious and have high hopes. Hope they find #value in @tmwestdelhi's meetings.
TM Shilpa back on the stage. Fun fact: The SAA is also the TMOD. #Wicked!!
TMOD explains the structure brilliantly: Better #speaking, better #thinking, and better #listening: a #creative approach by the TM. These basically are Prepared #Speeches, Table Topics, and Evaluation sections. Isn't this #wonderful?!
TMOD is now mentioning the #theme and since the #time is passing quickly, because that's what it does, the GE has been welcomed
Auxiliary Role Players on the stage!! ARPs are the most underrated roles. What people generally don't realise is that they are the most important ones. They not only hold the #meetings strongly, but help in the development of the #publicspeakers more than anything else
Grammarian explains the Word of the Day: Hanker
Meaning: To have a strong or persistent desire (for something or to do something)

Examples of usage:
1. I hanker to peruse a healthier lifestyle in the new year.
2. By the middle of the winter, they were hankering for a warm day.
Stage back from the GE TM Kanika Sharma to the TMOD
Btw, we give a thumbs-up whenever someone uses the #WOTD. Supportive
It's time for the first speech. Speaker: TM Mohit Sawhney. Evaluator: TM Nikhil from @JPKUToastmaster It's good to have TMs from across clubs with us :)
Mohit on the stage, y'all!! "Ladies and gentlemen, insects and worms..." Crazy start to a speech.
Why insects? Because this is a speech about passion and what is #passion if not #keeda. "It brings you angst", "drives your crazy".
Mohit's #keeda is the Keeda itself. Didn't know he was a #germophobe!

Oh, and btw, his speech title is Mega-Batching.
There's a connection with #Podcasts now. Gosh! I'm starting to lose track. How much more #interesting can this meeting get?! Gotta buckle up!!
Mohit has a time table for cleaning the house :p Dayum!! Mondays are for mops.
How do we keep our keeda alive then? We look at Mohit and @AmyPorterfield's example of how they manage all the things that they are passionate about. Cleanliness and Podcasts, respectively :)
Next up, the #president as the speaker. Evaluator is TM Kumar.

#Theme of the speech: Encouragement - the Oxygen for the #Soul
Encouragement is important in various aspects. Mentoring, learning, and college swimming lessons
"Deeper the water, easier it is to swim."
You have no idea how your belief ca help someone. Sanjeev is sharing his experiences when his seniors and people around him believed in him. And look at that! He found the #link between the outside world and #toastmasters
Because one is #encouraged, one encourages. #words to live by
Sanjeev mentions what @tmwestdelhi has always believed in. That a #mentor-#mentee relationship is a two-way street. Again, #words to live by
And we move on to the next #speaker. Wish these #speeches never end
Look at that! The third speech isn't happening. Man! Jinxed it 🙄
But!!! (There's always a but) We can see the Table Topics happening. This is the section of #listening :)

TTM: TM Nachiketa. Go TTM!!
Table Topics are basically Impromptu speaking sessions. We like to hype things and names of sections up :p
First Table Topics Speech: Silence convey more meaning than words. Speaker: TM Himanshu Saluja

Himanshu: "When you can't express yourself, you go in silence", "I know the power of silence"

We should start meditating now. High time
"Where do you find peace?" 2nd topic. TTS: TM Anil Sharma

For Anil, the person who wants to become what he wants but can't focus on his priorities, he needs to focus on it. #focus is the key here. Be it #Gymming, #health, or anything else.
"What one needs and wants, would you be able to achieve those?"

TTS: TM @Deeptendu_Ahuja

Deeptendu believes that as individuals we need to identify what our needs and wants are. Including roti, kapda, and makaan.
We need to align our wants and needs and by doing this, we will be able to live a happy life. If Material wants <--> Needs => Peaceful life
4th topic: "Describe your 2021 destiny"
TTS: TM Harshwardhan

TM's destiny is to travel around this beautiful country. He wants to explore new things, see new places, and also travel other places outside #India. Cultural exploration is the goal.

#travelgoals right there!
5th topic: "Are we developing a mission of self-mastery?" with TTS TM Nikhil from @JPKUToastmaster

"Our presence in the meeting is a testimony of self-mastery." "We are #always trying to strive for something." "#toastmasters was a perfect avenue in my #publicspeaking skills."
"If I am not doing something, what am I doing in my life?" - TM Nikhil

#words to live by, again :)
"What motivates you to go to work each day?" - TTS Nishtha as the next speaker.

Nishtha wants stability in any task. And this task is your work. so, work may or may not be your profession. Which, for us is very eye-opening.
We hear #hanker being used. Great going #TMWDians!
"If my life was a novel, what name would you give it?" - TM Manvinder

Manvinder's one word answer is #Exceptions

True story because a lot of things in his life are exceptional. Aren't a lot of things in ours as well?
That was the end of the Table Topics section. But we still have the Evaluations left.
TM Shilpa talks about SIlver Linings in our lives. "Brighter days after a dark night," she says. Also mentions how even though 2020 was a year we weren't expecting, it was filled with good experiences for a lot of people. Proving that there is a silver lining
TM Himanshu explains his 2020 and how his work was affected. He runs a travel agency, btw.
Also, Himanshu gave a mention to TM Manvinder and his #beyondshiksha initiative. Proof that at #toastmasters, we build not only our skills, but build each others along the way. #teamwork for the win. This is the reason why #tmwestdelhi and #Toastmasters is a family
TM Mohit is now reminding us of what @samcawthorn says. That instead of bouncing back, we should bounce forward.
TM @RSBhandari talking about how having online meetings are enabling better networking around the globe.
All these #TMWDians that TM Shilpa welcomed to talk have some really great insights
TM Vishal on how industries were affected because of #COVID19. Bright future for manufacturing in India and India will emerge as the biggest in the manufacturing sector.
With this, we go on a 5-minute meeting break. #BRB 🥪🍕🥛🍪

On a lighter note, how great would milk and cookies be for #breakfast!
We are back!
GE TM Kanika taking the meeting forward
First up are the evaluators
TM Nikhil as the Eval for TM Mohit
Cs: Great use of acronym KEEDA; Use of mega-batching to overcome his Keeda and how it was a full circle; hand gestures and body movements come naturally to him; delivery as an experienced speaker; use of placards; made the start personal and relatable; constant smile
Rs: After asking people to write down their Keedas, didn't give a chance to reflect on them; More humour could be added
TM Kumar as Eval for TM Sanjeev now
Cs: Started with a quote and a ques. which is a great way to start the speech; has a hanker (#wotd) for coaching; examples; connected on a personal level; he wasn't saying things just for the sake for it; Body language and #gestures; voice
Rs: Gave examples how he was a mentee and was helped. He also called his #mentees to share their experiences. But as an evaluator, was looking for an example where he was the mentor
Evaluations brought to an end. Time for Auxiliary Role Players' reports
Detailed report by the Ah Counter, Grammarian, and the Timer given
GE's report:
- Started a minute late but everyone was there
- Voting procedure to be decided beforehand
- Good Audience engagement
- Good presentations from the speakers' end
- R for Evaluators: Equal distribution of CRC could have been incorporated
- Eval: good efforts
- For ARPs: Good work
- Designation of TM requested to address everyone
- Good meeting
- GE also thanked the ARPs and used the #wotd while asking for a feedback on how she did as a GE
Stage goes back to the TMOD
Food for thought from the TMOD before she hands the stage back to the President: What's your opinion for 2021? Will it be flourishing for the economy or do we have to get ready again for the upcoming challenges?
President's closing remarks: Always be future looking because that's how the progress is made. Even markets move forward.
Guest Feedback underway...
And the winners are🥁
1. Best Auxiliary Role Player: TM Amya Apoorv (Grammarian)
2. Sterling Role Player: TM Shilpa Gupta (TMOD)
3. Best Table Topic Speaker: TM @Deeptendu_Ahuja and TM Manvinder
4. Best Evaluator: TM Nikhil @JPKUToastmaster
5. Best Speaker: TM Mohit Sawhney
That's a Wrap! See you Next Week😊💃
