Do you work, live in or visit a long-term/personal care or retirement home in #Canada, or do you know someone who does?
Are you worried about whether the #COVID19 vaccines are safe, and if you should take them?
If so, I'm starting a nightly Zoom session to answer questions.
If you'd like the link to attend, please email me: tara.moriarty(at)utoronto.ca.
If a lot of people want to attend, my first priority right now is people associated w/ LTC/retirement homes.
Je suis (pas mal) bilingue. Alors, je suis capable de discuter en francais.
I'll do the sessions at 8 p.m. Eastern time, so it's not too late for Atlantic folks, but also late enough for many people on the West coast to be home from shifts. I'll do the sessions on weekends too so that as many people as possible can attend.
Any other physicians, scientists or healthcare workers who want to help out with these sessions, please let me know. If we can maintain a daily, reliable Q&A access point for all HCWs who aren't getting this info from their workplace, it may help vaccine uptake.
It would be especially useful if physicians/scientists/HCWs who speak languages other than English could do an occasional session, to ensure that everyone can ask questions in the language with which they're most comfortable.
And I promise, for those who don't know me, that I'm here to help and not to judge. You can sign on anonymously, you don't have to use video, you can call in if you want.
The only rules are:
1) No personal criticism 2) Participants who attend for the purpose of telling people that COVID-19 vaccines are not safe will be muted.
I'll do this every single night until it's no longer needed.
Thank you for everything you do to protect our elders.
For those who don't know me
1. I was an agency PSW for nearly 10 yrs
2. My mom & dad both had/have dementia, I'm their primary caregiver. My dad lived last yr of his life in LTC. My mom now lives in memory unit of a RH.
3. I'm an infectious disease scientist & professor @UofT
I've set up an auto-reply on my email now that will send the meeting invite & info to anyone who asks.
That email can be forwarded to anyone & everyone who might find it helpful.
So even if you don't need it personally, if you email me I can send info you can share with others.

#Canadian scientists, science communicators, HCPs who vaccinate and is scientifically knowledgeable about #COVID19 vaccines
Are you frustrated by slow vaccination rates, vaccines being thrown out? Do you want to help now?
There one very big way we can help now.
Many HCWs scheduled to be vaccinated now are nervous about the vaccine and would like to be able to talk to knowledgeable experts and have supportive, non-judgemental discussions.
It is incredibly important that we provide support and information and conversation about the COVID vaccines to people who live, work in & visit long-term care and retirement homes in Canada. And we need to do it NOW.
