In order to grow good tomatoes and get maximum yield one is supposed to begin with Proper seed selection. Tomatoes can be classified in to two broad categories;

The OPV’S popularly known as the open pollinated varieties.

Hybrids. ImageImageImageImage
Most farmers are now shifting from open pollinated varieties to hybrids because of their high production and disease tolerance. ImageImageImage

Papaya (Carica papaya) is a perennial fruit tree widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical climates for its nutritive and medicinal values. It is very popular in Kenya where it is grown for both local and export markets.

male (staminate) – this has male parts and doesn’t produce fruits. Flowers are produced in large numbers in long dropping branches.
The female (pistillate) has female parts only. Flowers are large, situated singly or in clusters near the tree trunk and close to the base of stalk
It is pollinated through cross pollination and produces fruits that are sweetest in all the varieties.
The hermaphrodite- contains both male and female parts on the same plant thus capable of self-pollination.

Hass avocados start fruiting at 16 months , that is when all agronomical practices have been met e.g. buying good seedlings, timely planting , timely manure application, timely application of pesticides in case of any infections and water provision. #SaturdayMotivation
Although avocados are fairly resistant to drought, well distributed rainfall of between 1000-1200mm is adequate for proper crop development. They also require well drained soils to avoid root rot. The best soils are sandy or alluvial loams with pH ranging between 5 - 7.

Oranges prefer growing in an open place where they receive atleast 4 hours of sunshine in a day with pH 5-7 and adequate manure supply.
They take 3 years to mature though start fruiting at the second year. One tree produces 200-300 fruits a season

Holes should be 2 ft deep with soil mixed with organic manure.
We also encourage farmers to use Maxyield organic fertilizer which provides essential and non essential nutrients that are very important for tree development ImageImageImageImage
Its a heavy feeder tree and needs enough water supply as well.
Pests and diseases are the main challenges but can be controlled.
Make sure that you carry out weeding oftenly before spraying your plants.
Harvesting can be done twice a year when fruits are fully ripe and sweet Image

#Dearfarmers So lets talk about careless mistakes people make in farming.
A simple Thread worth your time.

- Lack of proper fencing.
We invest thousands or millions into farming but fail to impose proper security measures around the farm.
#WednesdayWisdom
#BBIReport #farming
Frequent theft and farm invading by livestock or wild animals results from simple ignorance or failure to protect your office. (farm)
Fencing is therefore a very important aspect that you should consider before venturing into farming
Lack of financial knowledge and risk management.

Farmers ought to know the estimated profit margin before investment. Don't be so much aggressive on decision making at the start and have less equity left out. Invest only whatever you are capable of.
