My office is releasing a report on our ongoing investigations into nursing homes' response to #COVID19 in New York.

We have been investigating allegations of patient neglect and other concerning conduct that may have jeopardized the health and safety of residents and employees.
We found that:
 
➡️@HealthNYGov's public data undercounted #COVID19 deaths in some nursing homes by as much as 50%
 
➡️Some nursing homes failed to comply with infection control protocols
 
➡️Facilities with lower staffing ratings had higher #COVID19 fatality rates
➡️Insufficient PPE and testing for nursing home staff put residents and staff at increased risk
 
➡️Owners of for-profit nursing homes have a financial incentive to increase their own profits instead of investing in more staff, PPE, and other safety measures
Based on these findings, we are still investigating more than 20 nursing homes whose conduct during the first wave was of particular concern.

Nursing homes residents and workers deserve to live and work in safe environments. We're releasing this report to offer transparency and spur action to protect our most vulnerable.

#BREAKING: I’m filing a lawsuit against the New York City Police Department to bring an end to its pattern of repeatedly and blatantly violating the rights of New Yorkers.

No one is above the law — not even the individuals charged with enforcing it.
Our landmark lawsuit outlines the @NYPDnews' years of using excessive force and making false arrests against New Yorkers, most recently during racial justice protests in 2020.

This unlawful conduct has led to severe injuries and violated the basic right to peaceful protest.
The NYPD and its senior leaders failed to address this longstanding pattern of abuse by not properly training, supervising, and disciplining officers to prevent misconduct, despite knowing and publicly admitting that it violated the rights of New Yorkers.

2020 was a year of great challenges, but we were still able to accomplish so much to protect the rights of all New Yorkers.

Our annual report highlights some of the biggest legal, policy, and community actions we took this year.

➡️Sued to dissolve the @NRA for years of self-dealing and fraud

➡️Led landmark, bipartisan lawsuits against @Facebook and @Google

➡️Filed 37 lawsuits against the Trump administration to stop its harmful and regressive policies
✅ Stopped the Trump administration's attempts to dismantle #DACA in the U.S. Supreme Court

✅ Protected New Yorkers' access to Global Entry and other Trusted Traveler Programs

✅ Won a major lawsuit to block ICE from making arrests in and around state courthouses

Today, we're going to the Supreme Court to continue our challenge against President Trump's attempt to politicize the #2020Census and exclude undocumented immigrants from the congressional apportionment.

We won't allow this president to put politics above the law.

I took action to force the Trump Organization, and specifically EVP Eric Trump, to comply with my office’s ongoing investigation into its financial dealings.

For months, the Trump Organization has failed to fully comply with our subpoenas in this investigation.
Our investigation began after Michael Cohen testified before Congress that Trump’s annual financial statements inflated the values of his assets to obtain favorable terms for loans & insurance coverage, while also deflating the value of other assets to reduce real estate taxes.
We are seeking thousands of documents and testimony from multiple witnesses regarding several Trump Organization properties and transactions, including from Eric Trump, who was intimately involved in one or more transactions under review.
