Section III of Vol.14 of ‘Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Writings and Speeches’ describes -
Dr.Ambedkar’s remarks during the ‘Discussion on 🔸The Hindu Code🔸After Return of the Bill from The Select Committee.
According to Dr. Ambedkar, this is the signicance of the #HinduCode 👇🏼

“There is no doubt that the two Smritikars whom I have mentioned— Yagnavalkya and Manu, rank the highest among the 137 who had tried their hands in framing Smritis.”
- Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the then Law Minister of India to the Constituent Assembly in February 1949.

From this👇🏼 and the remarks of Dr. Ambedkar, it is clear that the two Smritikars— Yagnavalkya and Manu played an important role in drafting the co-parcenary law (Joint Heirship of Son & Daughter).
This also highlights the Women’s Rights mentioned in #Manusmriti.

Now, let us see some interesting things about the ‘Source’ of this.
DR. BABASAHEB AMBEDKAR WRITINGS AND SPEECHES - is a 17 volume set published by ‘Dr.Ambedkar Foundation’ - an autonomous body under The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment.

From the time of the British Raj, various ancient Hindu texts have been used to draft laws for the Hindu Community.
The Constituent Assembly too used texts such as Manusmriti, Yagnavalkya Smriti, Arthashastra, etc. to draft the Hindu Code.

The edition from which I quoted certain things in this thread was re-printed in January 2014.
Who was the then Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment?
It was Kumari Selja, an Indian National Congress Leader. She was also the Chairperson of the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation.

I am sure @rohanreplies and his fellow Chamchas won’t brand Kumari Selja as a ‘Sanghi’.
But if they wish, they’re free to call her whatever they want.
Also, take a look on the Editorial Board of ‘Collected Works of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’.
Any Sanghis on board?
