First of all, let us have a look at this structure on #RaigadFort.
Now, this is not a Mosque as claimed by distorians. How can a Mosque have a ‘Shivling’ inside it?
This is the Jagadishwar Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
ShivChhatrapati was an ardent devotee of Mahadev.

This palace of Jagadishwar, which is pleasing to all the world, was built on the occasion of Anandnam Sanvatsar in 1596 by the order of Shrimad ShivChhatrapati Raja. On this Raigad, a sculptor Hiroji has built wells, ponds, gardens, roads, pillars, yard halls and palaces.

The literal translation of this inscription on the #RaigadFort also tells us that no mosque was built on the Fort.
The Marathi translation of this inscription can be read from here:

As per this, the Jagdishwar Temple was built according to the Indo-Persian architecture.

But there is another interesting reference to ‘this mosque-like look’ of the Jagadishwar Temple.
5/12
Contrast to the Cambridge claim, the Maratha architecture was not purely based on Islamic architecture.
The Lower Shivalaya (Badami) built in 7th Century CE has a ‘dome’ instead of the ‘Shikhara’.

In a letter dated 12th May, 1818, Lt.Col Prother (who captured the Raigad Fort) described the Fort to Lt.Col Leighton.
The British were the first to confuse the Jagadishwar Temple with ‘a mosque’.
It is clear that they got confused with the dome of the Jagadishwar temple.

From this same letter, it is also clear that ‘Sevagee’s Tomb’ (ShivChhatrapati’s Samadhi) was ‘discernible’ in 1818 itself.
I don’t understand how ‘someone’ rediscovered it in 1874.

British Officer Henry Revington in his letter dated 13th February, 1660, addressed ShivChhatrapati as the ‘General of the Hendoo Forces’.
There’s a reason why he was called as the ‘Haindav Dharmodhaarak’ (Defender of the Faith).
And we all know which ‘faith’ he defended.
9/12
Yes, he was tolerant and not a fanatic like Islamic invaders.
But being tolerant is not as same as being secular.
There are several contemporary sources that prove ‘ShivChhatrapati’ was a staunch Hindu.
His Son, Chh.ShambuRaje called him ‘Mleccha-Kshay-Dikshit’.
10/12
I’ve never ever politicised the legacy of the great ShivChhatrapati & I never will.
But it is high time to stop the distortion of history to appease a specific community.
It is of utmost importance that true history with contemporary sources is propagated to the masses.

Note: A new study in 2016 revealed that the famous ‘Jagadishwar Temple’ is actually the ‘Wadeshwar Temple’. The reference of this is found in the Peshwa Daftar.
But since the name ‘Jagadishwar’ is known to the common public, I’ve used it in this #Thread.
