Once upon a time Government would harness any spare resources to do things that benefited all:
A waterwheel
A mill
A school
A doctor
NHS
National Grid
What's sickening isn't just #TeamJohnson's waste
It's why they waste
To cover up failure.
They fail us all
Did you think about how they managed to get the 1% for the NHS so wrong?
1% is worse than 0. It's what you give a member of staff to show you think they should be leaving.
Explaining (a theory of) how this happened will need a little context.
Northern Ireland:
Let's think about how much time, effort, and expense have been spent failing to resolve the Northern Ireland issue...
What could have been achieved if they'd instead solved it?
At every point, #Johnson has promised solutions while providing none at all.
The damage isn't just in time, effort or cash.
It's far more challenging to replace, say, international reputation?
You remember how this went, right?
2016 UK in SM and CU. No NI problem (Norway)
2017 Rewrite of history. SM/CU no longer acceptable. NI Border problem created.
2018 Managed Divergence
2019 Backstop
2020 Mini Backstops (in WA Oven)
2021 UK Internal Market Bill (breach)
2021 UK in breach of intl law.
This all while we need to be regarded as straight shooting.
We walked away from 100s of agreements we need to re-sign as an honest player
The cost of 5 years of this nonsense
Constant denial
Constant blame of the other side
Escalating to a breach of contract
And the undermining of our reputation internationally?
That's uncountable damage.
It'll take decades from which to recover if ever we do (see free ports)
Imagine instead that we had set about solving for the issue that the 2017 rewrite of the referendum created IN 2017, instead of pretending it didn't exist?
Or that the ERG, which proposed the 2017 rewrite, was held to account to explain how their idea would work AND deliver it.
The truly obscene thing is this.
The ERG were allowed to
- propose their mad idea
- with no test of credibility
- and no plan to implement
- lobby against and destroy functional alternatives
And then waive away reviews that would have shown how damaging it would be.
Democracy?
Even crazier, of course, is the chaos in Northern Ireland and at Dover and other ports isn't even being reported, so many papers are in cahoots with the Government.
For British News you now need to read the NYT, Bloomberg or Reuters.
2/ 1. Conservative Manifesto
Ironically if anyone should have been screaming about this sordid document, it should have been the libertarian right.
They were silent. Look at the small print.
Today's Revelation.
Conservatives are Totalitarian Communists claiming to be rightist.
BEAR WITH ME.
We can EVIDENCE THIS.
Willful destruction of UK value to serve a "peoples collective" idea of dubious gain
A casual disdain for small and large business, crippled with taxes
Massive corruption of the state machine at every level of purchasing and procurement
A politburo of non-entity underachieving apparatchiks whose only "achievement" is a complete lack of interest in evidence when it conflicts with The Party or self's goals, or just ignorant bias
A figurehead half dead inept supreme leader, taking orders from the shady barons who are really in charge.
A media wholly owned by the Party's proxies, suppressing any difficult news, or, failing that, hacking tech, breaking privacy laws or ultimately fabricating news.
I missed this staggering and articulate indictment from @bmj on the negligence of Johnson, Trump and other "Populists" during the #Covid19#pandemic .
RT in full. Link at end. Everything we've said and more. A must read.
Thank you kabbasi@bmj.com
After two million deaths, we must have redress for mishandling the pandemic
Murder is an emotive word. In law, it requires premeditation. Death must be deemed to be unlawful. How could “murder” apply to failures of a pandemic response? 1/
Perhaps it can’t, and never will, but it is worth considering. 2/
The 1% pay rise is "all we can afford" because the BJ is paying £513m extra already for training & recruitment
We're paying £513 extra because of the cost of the BJ's badly thought through immigration exceptions.
And two more factors he also controls...
1. Yes NHS Visa charges are back. Remember your outrage last year? From Jan 1st, in addition to an onerous immigration system, they quietly ALSO started to charge nurses to work here.
2. Then why so many more staff? Well we can't blame the BJ for #COVID19 in general...
But 80,000 EXTRA died: his PPE, border controls, (lack of) testing. July beaches.
BJ didn't cause Covid, he just made it far worse at huge cost of life
More NHS staff costs to correct his mistakes.
Odd, because war powers were added "avoid mistakes"⏬
When Jacob Rees Mogg threw dead fish into the Thames at WETminster, I thought, like most of you, he was making a point on behalf of the Fishing INDUSTRY.
It was only yesterday that we all learned he was acting on behalf of the FISH.
Fish happiness, not Brexit, was the goal!
In the year before #Brexit started -
(note: Brexit was not done, it's just begun)
- I worried about those most impacted.
My logic was while those wishing to remain would be most disappointed, they would also be most prepared.
#BrexitDeal would hurt its supporters.
Starting ☝️
Two reasons were anticipated.
1. Famously the economic consequences would hurt Leave voters the most (albeit no one expected the madness of combining #Brexit with #Covid19)
2. Sovereignty and independence would be reversed; we'd end up with less of both (as we have).
