Unconfirmed reports circulating of an "event" aboard the #Iran|ian SHAHR E KORD Vessel in the Eastern Med. AIS data via @MarineTraffic updated ~5 hours ago had her off the coast of Baniyas, #Syria. Photos circulating appear to confirm the vessel? it looks like a cargo fire.
additional photos of the vessel show the green/yellow paint scheme shown in the unconfirmed photos in the previous tweet, so they appear to align with the vessel.
I'm in the mindset that these were hazardous materials in the cargo container that have gone "pop", nothing more.
Oh, and because I'm being asked what do I think made the cargo go "pop" - your guess is as good as mine :).
Interesting; there are some thoughts that the photos circulating social media are old (hence why I left them unconfirmed) confirmed they match the vessel, but not this incident. Anyway, got some more interesting details in the works, hope to share with you soon.
Working with AIS data courtesy of @GlobalDryad / @MarineTraffic shows some interesting insights of the Shahr E Kord around the #Iran|ian Saviz in the Red Sea prior to heading through the Suez, she performed some interesting manoeuvres yesterday morning.
It is worth noting that there is still some speculation around the photos in this thread, as they are still not confirmed, and the speculation is that they may be related to the included incident. maritimebulletin.net/2019/07/30/str…
Additional footage has been released of the fire aboard the SHAHR E KORD from yesterday's event. IRISL Group spox has stated " Shahre Kord cargo ship was attacked by an explosive object on Wednesday in intl waters of Mediterranean" - nournews.ir/Fa/News/60926/…
Additional image of the reported damage caused by the attack claimed by the IRISL Group.
This comment after WSJ article last night was slightly predictable.
Additional photos of the damage.
So it looks like we are looking inside the Red Container near, which is puncturered into from the blue one?
Ye, defiantly seeing the red container through a puncture in the blue......
Container walls appear to be “melted”, from the shape(s), curves and bends. Very hot against the right container wall and the roof is gone? Something able to burn at high temperature was in that container.
