Pretty amazing that we knew about ventilation and indoor air quality back in 1896. Sad that it takes 2 full blown global pandemic since then to heed these lessons.

2) CANARY IN THE COAL MINE FOR SCHOOLS: a tech savvy dad strapped a CO2 monitor to his kid to check air CO2 exposure on a school trip. Crazy high CO2 indicates poor indoor ventilation.

3) Key thing - it’s not the CO2 per se that directly affects #Covid19 risk, but that CO2 is a proxy for ventilation. We want CO2 levels as close to fresh air of ~400, so optimally <450 parts per mil.

FYI: normal CO2 used be in <325 ppm when I was born. Now it’s 420-450 ppm in 🌎

📍VACCINES HELPING LONG COVID: Hospitalized #COVID19 patients who then got Pfizer or Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine had decreased #LongCovid symptoms (5.6% vacc vs 14.2% not) & ⬆️ symptom resolution (23.2% vacc vs 15.4% not). Both vaccines similar benefit. 🧵

Authors concluded: “Receipt of vaccination with either an mRNA or adenoviral vector vaccine was not associated with a worsening of Long Covid symptoms, quality of life, or mental wellbeing...”
3) the study continued: “Individuals with prolonged COVID-19 symptoms should receive vaccinations as suggested by national guidance.”

Toxic attitudes—prisons are high risk for #COVID19, yet when Florida correctional officer polled his colleagues in a private Facebook group: “Will you take the COVID-19 vaccine if offered?”
Over half: “Hell no.” Only 40 of 475 respondents said yes.

2) First let’s cover some good news, that having 2 doses clearly MUCH MUCH better than 1 dose alone of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines versus neutralizing the classic #SARSCoV2 common strain.

3) Notably, notice how much stronger in neutralization the blood of people with 2 doses of either Pfizer (dark blue) or Moderna (dark red) is versus the 1 dose of each. Note the logarithmic y-axis. So the difference is even greater.

Long Covid is serious. Britain ONS estimates that 23.6% of women with #COVID19 and 20.7% of men continued to experience symptoms five weeks after they tested positive for the virus. Nearly 10% had symptoms 12 weeks later. 🧵 #LongCovid

2) the fact that 1 in 3 get rehospitalized from #COVID19 is just incredibly mind boggling.
3) How common is #LongCovid overall? UK estimates 1 in 5 at 5 weeks and 1 in 10 have symptoms have even 12 weeks after initial #COVID19 diagnosis.

Did you know—30 million doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca are sitting idle in the US, awaiting results from its U.S. clinical trial while countries that have authorized its use beg for access. That is 30 million doses sitting idle in Ohio factory! #COVID19 nytimes.com/2021/03/11/us/…
2) “Emergent BioSolutions, a company in Maryland that AstraZeneca has contracted to manufacture its vaccine in the United States, has also produced enough vaccine in Baltimore for tens of millions more doses once it is filled into vials and packaged, the official said.
