According to information, the man is a professional soldier stationed in #Peutie in Flemish #Brabant & living in #Limburg. He is said to be armed with a rocket launcher, a machine gun & a pistol. The soldier is also said to be wearing a bulletproof vest. 3/

The soldier is said to have far-right sympathies and had previously made threats, including to the address of virologist Marc Van Ranst. Ranst and his family have been taken to a safe location until the soldier is found. 4/

The wanted soldier was on the terrorist list of #OCAD, the body for threat analysis, because of his #rightwing extremist sympathies. This is what Justice Minister Vincent Van Quickenborne (Open VLD) said. 5/

"There are indications that he is violent, and in the last 24 hours there have been specific indications that the soldier is an acute threat," Van Quickenborne added. 6/

According to Facebook, he is a soldier in the Belgian Special Forces. He makes no secret of his right-wing extremist convictions. His biography reads "Unsere Ehre heißt Treue" ("Our honor means loyalty") and he lists "Standartenführer" as his place of work. 8/

Both are unmistakable allusions to the Waffen SS.
Belltower.News has not yet received a reply to an inquiry from the relevant Belgian security authority as to whether the profile belongs to a soldier of the Belgian Special Commandos. 9/

The vehicle of the professional soldier, which was found by a forester, had to be defused by specialists of the mine clearance service #DOVO. The soldier's vehicle was equipped with a so-called "tactical booby trap". 11/
