GREAT discussion on "Destiny and Hardwork" in @SandeepMall space right now.
Writing a short thread to share my thoughts on the same.
As @onemanush said, your destiny starts right at birth.
If you are born in a small village in Africa versus a wealthy family in Mumbai,
your life path starts at a very different note.
The overall sentiment seems to be that you write your own destiny. Which is directly contradictory to the the sentiment that your destiny is pre written.
Your destiny is pre written when it comes to life and death!
What happens
between those two points in life is a combination of fortune, very different from destiny, and hard work.
A perfect example where HARD WORK was the only difference in the end point of two individuals is the age old Sachin versus Kambli discussion.
While a perfect example of
how fortune can over ride all your hard work is the Rahul Dravid versus Amol Muzumdar discussion.
A lot of people believe Amol deserved to be on that England tour MORE than Dravid.
But due to factors beyond the control of both, it was Dravid who boarded the flight.
Once there, it was sheer hard work and determination that made him one of the most successful batsman in world cricket!
There is a quarterback named Tom Brady in the National Football League. He was drafted #199 in the SIXTH round. There were SIX QBs drafted before him.
He has had the most succesful career ever!
He has better numbers than all of those six players.
He has won more Super Bowls than any TEAM ever (7 versus 6).
After 20 years with his original team, he was basically forced to leave to a totally new team.
To do so and take his
new team to their first ever Super Bowl is a direct result of his hard work inspite of his fortune,
To make a comparison, imagine MSD being forced out of CSK and going to KXIP and motivating them to their first IPL!
Rick Pitino, one of the most successful coach has written a
book titeld "Success is a choice".
I am a firm believer in that.
Steve Jobs was forced out of the company HE founded! Imagine Mukesh Ambani being forced out of Reliance.
That's terrible destiny/fortune right?
Not only did he come back, but he came back with a bang and
changed the way we all live our life!
I am typing this thread on a Mac while listening to the #space on my iPhone!
I am a 2nd generation dentist and often am told "Oh you are so lucky! You got everything ready made!"
Well I am fortunate for sure. But I would not survive for
even a year if I did not work hard because I am going to be compared to my father.
I personally have felt it starts with skill=> hard work=> fortune.
The blackberry had virtual monopoly in the smartphone market. But it kept crashing and the keyboard was terrible!
It took the
skill of Steve Jobs to notice and decide that something must be done about it.
Then the hard work kicked in and led to the creation of the iPhone.
Was there fortune involved? I am sure there was but he would not have benefited from it had he not had/applied his skill and hard
work!
So let's not hide behind "It's not in my destiny" when the reality is that it is your hard work which is stopping you from finding your destiny/fortune!
I fell in love with #cricket watching the 1985 Ravi Shastri Audi series!
@sourabhsanyal was appearing for his 10th boards during the VVS series! And got yelled at by his dad because when he asked how was the paper he replied “What’s the score?”
The 1996 World Cup was when he truly started following cricket! That just shows he is a true cricket fan because if there is one tournament I would never expect a Pakistan cricket fan to love it would be the 1996 World Cup!
Before you leave:
1.Scan every single certificate (mark sheet degree cert, birth, aadhar, Pan etc) and save in a secure place. Easiest is to open an email address only for documents. Make 4 sets of copies, 2 with your parents 2 with you.
2.Spend AS MUCH time with your parents as possible. It still will feel inadequate once you are there. 3.Buy multiple sweaters, jackets, scarves, wollen caps, gloves, wollen socks etc.
