The #BombayHighCourt bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Girish Kulkarni is now hearing a PIL filed by on Siddharth Chandrashekar highlighting #vaccine #fraud in the city.

Advocate Anita Shekjat for petitioner: Despite state's claims that everyone would be vaccinated citizens are being victims of fraud. Points out that the state had said it would use Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) to spread awareness.

Adv Shekjat: But #ASHA workers are on strike.
J Kulkarni to BMC: Mr Sakhare, How did this fraud happened in Hiranandani society?

Senior counsel Anil Sakhare: Police has registered a case. The probe is on. One group has done the fraud at two places.

J Kulkarni: Some mechanism is needed. The chairman/secretary of the societies need to cross check whether these people are authentic or not. This can be done after the information of these people, who approach societies is available on public websites. #VaccinationFRAUD

J Kulkarni: If they find that these people are bogus they can intimate the authorities. The health officer from every ward should go and visit all such centers and scrutinize the documents.

J Kulkarni: The persons, who approach societies must have documents spelling out from where they got the vaccines etc. The fraud isn't possible without someone playing mischief. State and .@mybmc must keep a check on this #VaccinationFRAUD

J Kulkarni: Innocent citizens shouldn't be frauded. This is most unfortunate that even during such difficult times when the entire humanity is suffering there are few who are profiteering by resorting to fraud. #VaccinationFRAUD

J Kulkarni: Invoke provisions of Disaster Management Act and Epidemic Diseases Act against them. Ensure that the probe is completed. There cannot be a delay.

J Kulkarni: This is a serious issue. The state should be absolute serious on this. Who is investigating the case. Hope a senior officer is looking into it. #VaccinationFRAUD

J Kulkarni: Such people cannot be allowed to play with lives of the innocent citizens. These people are taking names of certain hospitals. They are bringing disrepute to such hospitals. #VaccinationFRAUD

J Kulkarni: Some control from the state must be there to check whether the liquid being injected is Covaxin or Covishield or plain water. Consider the plight of the persons, who are administered with plain water. #VaccinationFraud

CJ: People would stoop so low is beyond our imagination that they will play with vaccines and lives of people. #VaccinationFRAUD

J Kulkarni: Is there a certificate issued to the hospital after vaccines are allotted? Is there a document like a release certificate. Suppose a hospital is given 1k vaccines. The document must carry the batch number of vaccines. This will help in cross checking the entire trail.

J Kulkarni: There has to be an immediate policy and till that time keep a clear check. Because those who are going to get vaccines at society they should be sure that a genuine vaccine is being administered. #VaccinationFRAUD

CJ notes the bogus drive at Hiranandani society in Kandivali, and the arrest of the accused in the case.
