Since the opening of the London County Board of @officialgaa 125 years ago, GAA in Britain has prospered with over 80 clubs around the country & thousands of 1st, 2nd & 3rd generation Irish athletes enjoying Ireland’s national sports- gaelic football, hurling, camogie & handball.
Britain is home to the only provincial council of the GAA outside of Ireland, the @BPCGAA with the legendary Sam Maguire beginning his career in London & captaining the London Hibernians to several all-Ireland finals, before becoming chairperson of the @LondainGAA himself.
Earlier this month, @ScotlandGAA celebrated a truly historic event as the first competitive senior hurling match in Scotland since 1913 was played between Scotland’s first hurling & camogie club @ceanncreigeclub & the @Lpoolwolfetones.
Yesterday evening, the Embassy hosted the launch of the 9th annual GAA All Britain Championship @ABCGAAmes, which brings together some of the finest GAA clubs & school teams in Britain to compete at a national level in Gaelic football, hurling and camogie.
Ambassador @AdrianGONeill met with President of @BPCGAA, Noel O’Sullivan and other leaders from British GAA to officially launch this year’s competition, which will take place in September. #ABCs

European golfers from Ireland, Britain and across the continent join forces every two years to play in the men’s Ryder Cup & women’s @TheSolheimCup against the USA, with this year’s @rydercup European team being captained by @padraig_h
Travellers arriving in Ireland from GB do not need a pre-departure PCR test or to quarantine on arrival if they have valid proof that: they are fully vaccinated, or have recovered from Covid-19 in the past 180 days.
The NHS Covid Pass, vaccination status letter or paper vaccine card will all be accepted as proof of vaccination.
1. GB - IE travel update:
As of 19th July, travel arrangements will change for fully vaccinated travellers from GB to IE. Please visit gov.ie/en/campaigns/7… for full information and please be aware that the Covid-19 pandemic means that guidance may change at short notice.
2. Before arriving in Ireland, all passengers will still need to complete the Online Passenger Locator Form. This will be checked by your air or sea carrier before departure. gov.ie/en/publication…
3. Fully vaccinated travellers from GB to IE will not need a pre-departure PCR test or to quarantine at home on arrival. You will need proof of being fully vaccinated – NHS Covid Pass, vaccination status letter or paper vaccine card will all be accepted.
