@mekdes_asefa has done a great job of exposing CNN's bias against #Ethiopia & a possible direct line of communication with Getachew Reda himself. This thread will highlight this & other aspects of CNN's #InformationLaundering activities.
1/ For this thread I focused on 45 articles produced by CNN since November 4. @nimaelbagir was involved in 20 of these articles followed closely by @bethlehemfel. Unsurprisingly, all the @CNN articles I looked into were highly negative in their coverage of GOE.
Only one articles coveres the alleged misdeeds of #TPLF. The article by @bethlehemfel, @eoin_mc_sweeney, covered the #MaikadraMassacre as reported by @amnesty but conveniently left out parts of the report identifying the victims & perpetrators.
In another report purporting to expose a 'massacre' at Dengelat, @CNN|s evidence was a video depicting 'shoes of some of those killed.' According to @CNN, all the evidence you need to corroborate a massacre is a video of shoes. The journalistic standard set by Nima and Feleke!...
Video claiming to show a massacre at Mahibere Dego? @CNN got the video from TMH, the only thing they were able to corroborate was the location of the filming. No dates, no info re the device, no contact with the person who took the video. CNN asks their audience to trust TMH. 🤷
The latest episode in this series is the TOW the chemically preserved bodies floating downstream on Tekeze river.
2/ Further analysis revealed something very unexpected and at first glance very puzzling. Apparently, @CNN is not using the 'big four' of #InformationLaundering - SAHAN/EEPA/WPF/ICG! To date, CNN quoted them in only two articles! What is going on?
If @CNN is not using these veterans of #InformationLaundering, where is it getting its information from? A 2nd look at the data gives you the answer. With a stroke of genius, CNN has taken out the middle man. It is actually getting its info straight from the horse's mouth!
3/ Of the 45 articles, 20 actually used official #TPLF sources and pro-#TPLF sources. Debretsion (3x), Getachew Reda (2x), TMH (2x), Tedros Tefera (2x), Hamdeyet Refugees (2x), 'Eye witnesses' (4x). Dennis Wadley & Thomas Thomson ( WFP guy with GReda) make guest appearances.
4/ The data points towards a network of #InformationLaundering with three main nodes:
- The Tigray Node: Debretsion & Getachew Reda
- The Sudan Node: Hamdeyet 'Refugees' organized by Tedros Tefera & Gerrie
- The US Node: TMH
Without the middle man, @CNN's reporting towards Ethiopia bores striking resemblance to that of DW & TMH. The ploy is so simple and transparent that for outsiders our observations might appear ludicrous. @cnn in cahoots with #TPLF, is disinforming the world in broad daylight
Somehow, someone at the higher echelons of CNN has decided that they're going to work with #TPLF; maybe with a nod from @StateDept 🤔
With their pseudo-diverse group of mercenaries @CNN has opened an all out war of disinformation on #Ethiopia. For CNN Ethiopia is the new TRUMP!
We #Ethiopians know we can't stop @CNN from lying, but we refuse to be complicit with their assassination of the #Ethiopian nation through our silence. We will persevere not only in exposing their lies but also putting forth the truth about #TPLF and their enablers.
1/The rainy season is coming to an end. Roads will be more passable for military convoys, the skies will be clear for fighter jets & hundreds of thousands newly minted soldiers will soon be joining the frontlines.
2/ #TPLF and their allies know the end is near. #TPLF are massacring civillains as part of their plan to transform the conflict into an ethnic war and pave the ground for R2P. Their western allies are doing their best to force the government to negotiate.
3/ They started the pressure with the executive order from President Biden.
It would not be surprising if the EU/UK/UN restart heaping pressure on the GOE. The media has already restarted their campaign.
On the missing UN trucks: 1/ #TPLF invaded #Afar on July 17. Aid delivery was reduced to a trickle. It was routed out of Afar in the first week of September. More that 149 trucks made it to #Tigray. Conclusion: it was #TPLF that was hampering aid delivery.
2/ 428 out of 466 UN trucks that entered #Tigray haven't returned. This raises a host of questions:
- Who was the guarantor in Tigray with whom @WFP was dealing with? #TPLF?
- Where are the trucks now, based on GPS tracking? Any of them in Amhara region?
- Trucks have not been returning since mid-July. Why are we hearing about it only now?
- Where are the drivers of these trucks? Are they detained? What do they say about who took the trucks?
1/ Davison is an employee of the @CrisisGroup, a New York based organization that claims to work to "....prevent wars....& ...build a more peaceful world."
@CrisisGroup claims to be an independent organization but a cursory examination of their finances tells a different story. A very different story!!
Their biggest nongovernmental donor is Soros' Open Society Foundation (nothing to look here)
49% of their funding (19 mill USD) actually came from government grants. And who are these gracious countries? The Netherlands (5.9 mill), Canada (3.5 mill), Norway (1.5 mill), Sweden (1.03 mill). Other funders include EU (2.7 mill), France, Finland and Ireland. 🤔
1/ In July @nytimes described #TPLF#ChildSoldiers as "motivated young fighters" and now @guardian guardian has followed suit with their most recent coverage of the conflict in Ethiopia.
Many #Ethiopians and independent observers are enraged by the portrayal of #ChildSoldiers in the MSM. The refusal of the 'International Community' to unequivocally condemn this exploitation of Tigrayan children has been baffling for for many.
2/ The western world has been objectifiying black bodies for the past 500 years. Look at this pictures of black Africans naked and chained like wild animals or with hands chopped by the soldiers of their Belgian masters, taken by white photographers.
Thread
[longer than usual, please indulge me] #TPLF & #Genocide, a love affair, 1991-2021
1/#TPLF came to power in 1991, in the eve of the Yougoslavian civil war and genocide. It was against this backdrop that it started reshaping #Ethiopia into an ethnic federation.
The constitution that remade Ethiopia into an ethnic based state was ratified in 1994, while bodies were floating down Kagera River. While genocide was being facilitated by identification cards that advertise your ethnicity, #TPLF decided to enforce the same rules in Ethiopia.
2/ #TPLF institutionalized animosity between the Amhara & the Oromo which it tended to for three decades. #TPLF always portrayed itself as the only group that can avert imminent bloodshed between the two groups and the disintegration of #Ethiopia.
Whenever the West plans to destabilise a certain region or regime, they mobilize the MSM, AO and HR groups in a concerted manner.
1/The media will start a campaign that prepares the ground for future interventions...
...while swaying public opinion towards the needed direction. They start labeling the government as #totalitarian if not elected, and #populist if elected. Terms such as #genocide#EthnicCleansing#famine would get bandied around. They cultivate a new "reality" on the ground.
2/ Aid organizations would join the chorus and paint a picture of impending humanitarian doom. From one day to the next the number of people facing famine grows in leaps and bounds. The talk shifts towards #unfettered humanitarian access and humanitarian corridors
