Questions!
Is outbreak reporting at schools is too little, too late?

Kenney says cases among vaccinated school-aged children are declining.

Adds that junior and high schools are better off than last year because of vaccines.
Are we at or beyond the peak based on modelling?

Kenney says he doesn't know if we are past the peak, but that the numbers are moving in the right direction.

Kenney says it is too soon to say that we've beaten this thing, because we are going into Thanksgiving with colder weather for months ahead

We are also expecting waning effects from antibodies- adds we are by no means out of the woods.
Why aren't you bringing in a firebreaker, and what would have to happen to do so?

Kenney says trends moving in right direction which coincide with previously announced measures.

If there is widespread growth happens after Thanksgiving, we will consider more measures.
Are there plans to enforce gathering rules over Thanksgiving?

Kenney says the enforcement agencies have the powers to do so, but govt doesn't micromanage.

But don't expect a police officer on every street corner checking paper- cities Australia rules as something they won't do
Kenney says he wants Albertans to respect the rules, but that we don't have the capacity to monitor all 4.5 million Albertans this weekend.
Why have you been low key on referendum, and is it still fair to go ahead with it?

Kenney says he is focused on COVID - that's his priority.

But adds that democracy moves forward- points to other recent elections, says this isn't a distraction.
Was it a mistake to begin school w/o outbreak reporting/tracing in schools?

Kenney says they've taken measures for schools to be safe including masking and have since added more.

But says even if they go online, kids will still socialize and there will still be transmission.
Okay, but was it a mistake to start school year w/o those protections?

Kenney says there has been info sharing, and now they're going on further with reporting/tracing and having increased rapid testing.
Why was Alberta tracing app a failure?

Kenney says around the world tracing apps appear to have been less successful than hoped.

Was a justifiable expense given that they were trying to do facing an unprecedented situation.

Says federal app wasn't used much more.
Is Alberta still using ABtracetogether app, and are we still paying for it?

Minister Copping says they are still funding it now as they assess to whether they will continue to use it- and what happens next (fifth wave, endemic, etc)
How ready are we to get vaccines into kids under 12?

Copping says they are watching it closely, looking at options (like offering it at schools) and will determine how to move forward as more info becomes available.

Alberta will offer a one-time payment of $2000 for small- and medium-sized businesses that implement restrictions exemption program (aka vaccine passport program)

#yeg #yyc #ableg #Covid19ab
Kenney says they will implement legislation to protect businesses that require employee vax, or who implement REP program from legal challenges.

They are also doubling max fines for those who harass public-facing workers from $2000 up to $4000.
Minister Schweitzer says many small businesses had questions about workplace vaccines and the REP program- the legislation addresses those concerns.

Adds the $2k program will help with costs to implement REP program - will be live in 4 to 6 weeks for that businesses.
