2/ If you don’t know/understand all the issues at play in our perfect storm of #COVID19UK, #GPCrisis & #NHSCrisis then as journalists, your duty is to find out rather than whip up more anti #NHS sentiment.

We’ve got more than enough of that to deal w/ already, I can assure you👇🏼

3/ A quick example ➡️

Yesterday a 17yr old (X) attended a local WIC with mild upper respiratory tract symptoms.

X had a through examination, a detailed explanation, reassurance & good safety-netting, all documented.

4/ 45 mins later….yes 45 mins later….X arrived at A&E for a “2nd opinion”!

When asked why X needed 2 assessments by 2 different HCPs in 2 different healthcare settings, I was told to “stop whingeing” because “it’s your job”.

5/ So, as you can see @JamesMelville , when you & #TVKev have cosy chats on air about the NHS not protecting “us”, you’re feeding the anti-NHS narrative which is destroying morale, putting staff at risk & fuelling the #nhsprivatisation machine.

6/ My colleague @danielgoyal can explain some of the facts.

But crucial things to understand are….

1- There aren’t enough staff - drs & nurses in particular - & unfortunately they don’t grow on trees!

2 - There aren’t enough beds - in fact LESS than before the pandemic.

7/ & THE DECISION by @BorisJohnson & @sajidjavid not to keep #COVID under control effectively has meant that ALL HEALTHCARE IS SUFFERING, Covid & non-Covid.

Everything from cancer care, urgent non-cancer treatment ➡️ monitoring of chronic conditions & mental health problems.

8/ We don’t want patients to wait for hrs & we want ppl to be able to access the right care easily, but without more staff & more beds, that’s not going to happen.

What I wish #LetCovidRip fans would just understand, is that #COVID effects ALL CARE.
