But why is this important? Many reasons. Here's just one of them:

#Bitcoin was a brilliant innovation for its time, but we have since learned that the system cannot scale. Fees are too high, validation of the #blockchain is too expensive and inefficient, etc. As a result, many other projects were created to try and solve these problems.

#IOTA was one of them. Now, after 5+ years of painstaking research and failure, we finally appear to have line of sight for how all of the #blockchain limitations can be solved, and execution is already well underway.

Over this past decade, #Bitcoin proved that distributed ledgers can withstand the test of time. Over the next 10 years, #IOTA will prove its resilience as well, while simultaneously offering greater security, functionality, efficiency, scalability and decentralization.

This decade will be the true test for #Bitcoin. Once we go deep enough into the future, a 10 year difference in stability will mean nothing. Whether a protocol has been stable for 40 or 50 years will practically be the same. Characteristics will be the tie-breaker. Adapt, or die.

#Ethereum was the first project to take #blockchain tech one step further by using it not just to maintain a p2p payment network, but also to store computer code that can be used to power tamper-proof, decentralized financial contracts and applications, known as #DeFi and #dApps.

Smart contracts enabled the automated & trustless exchange of value, but they introduced new problems too. With the explosion of #dApps running on top of the network, transaction fees skyrocketed. To this day, #ETH gas fees remain unreasonably high.

The #IOTA protocol is unburdened by such fees, and is therefore quickly shaping up to become even more disruptive than #ETH. It is also #EVM compatible, meaning any #Ethereum project can be ported to the IOTA network with minimal effort.

Lastly, #IOTA solves #MEV, or miner extractable value, which is currently crippling #DeFi. MEV is a measure of the profit a miner can make through their ability to arbitrarily include, exclude, or re-order transactions within the blocks they produce.

If you're into #NFTs, there's good news for you too. NFTs living directly on the #IOTA ledger will have to be claimed, so that means your wallet won't get spammed with unsolicited NFTs. This is a problem in the #Ethereum network.
