Saturday, I sat through 3 hours of #Oppenheimer, gripped by Chris Nolan’s narrative. His screenplay is layered & fascinating. Familiar with the book by Kai Bird & Martin J. Sherwin, I once turned the project down because I couldn’t find my way to its essence. Nolan has found it. Image

(1/5) The enclosed, highly-respected @McKinsey report on #nuclear power from March 2023 surprised me, as it repeated many of our conclusions @GoldsteinJoshua and I reached in our #NuclearNow documentary.
(2/5) Though we started in 2019, and it seemed we were always behind the eight ball, it turns out the same systematic problem continues -- our misunderstanding of atomic energy. Until it is respected & understood, we’re handicapping ourselves in our battle for a civilized future.
(3/5) It’s extremely frustrating to those who’ve worked practically with this energy from Russia to China to the US to France. We need to wake up and realize that civilization is at stake.

(2/4) #USA, either out of arrogance or as tactic of war, does not wish its citizens to hear this kind of disturbing information, because they don’t respect the judgement of ordinary citizens to hear a realistic counternarrative. This has led to the #censorship we’re experiencing.

(1/4) Is it #Russia or the #UnitedStates that’s overreaching? I hoped, when I voted for him, that age could have made @POTUS wiser as a leader -- but flaws remain -- a Cold Warrior conditioned by the past, despising #Putin with insults and accusations that require diplomacy.
(2/4) Presidency under siege, @POTUS sticking to worn-out @HillaryClinton-neocon playbook of the new, hawkish Democratic party. Pushing #NATO and #sanctions to new levels of risk in order to maim Russia at practically any cost short of WWIII - though (god forbid) that may change.
