🧵1/12 Third day (26.02) of 🇷🇺aggression against 🇺🇦.

🇷🇺 troops attacked major cities in eastern 🇺🇦. Civilian infrastructure was shelled. The main target of the assault was #Kyiv. The attack was also conducted from the territories of the DNR / LNR "republics" and occupied Crimea

2/12 Russian troops are committing war crimes by shelling civilian facilities such as kindergartens and hospitals as well as apartment blocks. Ukraine is collecting evidence of such actions to hand over to the International Criminal Court.

3/12 During the day the Russian offensive was halted by Ukrainian forces, but during the night of 26/27 February there were increased Russian attacks. An oil depot near #Kyiv was destroyed.

4/12 The Russians have still not succeeded in capturing major cities, including #Kyiv, or #Mykolaiv in the south of the country. There is fighting in the centre of #Kharkiv.

5/12 #NATO leaders reaffirmed their support for #Ukraine. They also decided to further strengthen the Allied military presence on the eastern flank, as @ArthurKacprzyk writes in @Pism_Poland

6/12 The #EU has agreed new sanctions which include cutting off some Russian banks from #SWIFT, freezing the assets of the Russian Central Bank (including preventing a transaction), and financial sanctions for Russian oligarchs.

7/12 ✈️Some European countries, including Poland, the three Baltic States, Germany, and the UK have decided to close their airspace to Russian aircraft. A similar decision by the entire EU is possible.

8/12 🇩🇪The German government under international pressure has changed its mind on arms supplies to Ukraine. Around 27 countries are understood to be providing Ukraine with various types of aid, including weapons or medical supplies.

9/12 🇵🇱Poland continues its diplomatic and material support for Ukraine🇺🇦. Ammunition was handed over, a special medical train has been organised. A large hub for distribution of humanitarian aid to Ukraine is to start operating on Monday. ❤️‍🩹

10/12 Polish society has joined in efforts to help refugees coming from Ukraine on a huge scale.The Poles report to local governments and non-governmental organisations their willingness to accept refugees into their homes. Material help and transport from the border is organised

11/ 12 ⚽️The Polish national team has decided not to play playoff match with Russia for the World Cup in #Qatar. The match was supposed to take place on 24 March in Moscow. ⚽️
