1/Shipping at Russian Ports is Falling, While Some Ships Remain Inbound

There is a disturbing piece in this story by @Mar_Ex regarding the sailing of Bulkers heading to the #BlackSea port of #Novorssiysk. The issue regards #Ukranian crewmembers.

2/GAG Hot Port News: “All Ukrainian crew should be delivered ashore by service boat to the Immigration office, and will be transported back to their vessel after their meeting with Immigration.”

I can envision some difficulties on these ships if the crews learn of this.
3/While Bulkers have not yet been sanctioned coming out of Russia - the food is needed in Africa, Middle East and Asia - I severly doubt that Ukranians will surrender themselves to Russian authorities.

I expect to see vessel diversions on this issue.

2/The statement by @TheJusticeDept and @FMC_gov to reaffirm and strengthen their partnership is targeted directly at the ocean carriers. I have been critical of them in the past. There is concern about future actions to keep rates high, as they are today.

3/The FMC has led a Fact Finding (#29) on this since March 2020 led by Commissioner Dye. It has uncovered several major issues including excessive detention & demurrage and difficulties carriers had with shippers.

1/As the #Ukraine #Russia War continues, the number of neutral and commercial ships caught up in the conflict is little know.

The port of #Chornomorsk, just south of Odessa has over a dozen ships including several large bulkers #DaLiang of China, #Polarnet of Turkey & others.
2/Odessa itself has several vessels including the former MSC Algercias, now the @COSCOSHIPPING Joseph Schulte. A 9,400 TEU containership operating on the Black Sea-Asia route.
3/Similary, at the port of Mykolaiv, just north of Odessa, are a dozen more vessels including the Danish flagged tanker #HaraldMaersk.

Still seeing this large build up of ships holding at Rostov and Kerch.

There is a question if Russian landings along the coast are aimed at clearing the coast so that the Russians can reopen the Azov Sea.

Any Russian ships sailing from Rostov to the Kerch Strait would be within range of shore fire from Mariupol.

The Don River is the 5th longest river in Europe and a major cargo highway for Russia. Barge and river traffic moves cargo down to Rostov for export and same for imports coming into the country. Image
