🧵Today, #Putin's Nazi #Russia celebrates Victory Day in #WorldWarII. But who really won the war, whose victory Russia so wants to appropriate?
And who were the biggest victims of this war?
More on this, as well as about #Ukraine and Ukrainians in WWII in this thread⬇️
#Russia often speaks of its power based on a ‘fact’ that they won WWII, and often claim that Germany owes them something, because Russia was the biggest victim of the war.
But this is a manipulation.
France, UK, US & USSR (which consisted not only of🇷🇺but also🇺🇦& others) won WWII
#Russia always forgets the contributions made by US, UK & other allies who fought against Nazis.
They also forget that they gained all their military power thanks to Lend-Lease. Yep, US provided USSR with more than half of the weapons used by USSR. Hundreds of billions of $.
All 15 states of USSR fought against the Nazis.
25% of the Soviet army were Ukrainians. That's about 7 million soldiers. In 1944 every 3rd soldier of Soviet army was #Ukrainian. In multiple battalions fighting on the frontline 60-80% of soliders were Ukrainians.
🇺🇦fought against Nazism
As I wrote, 7 million Ukrainians fought in the USSR army. 120,000 fought in the Polish army. And another 100,000 fought in the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, which fought both against the Nazis & against the Communists. In addition, 80,000 fought in the US Army
#Ukraine was the epicenter of WWII. Thousands of battles took place here. Millions of Ukrainians fell victim to this war. According to various estimates, about 10-14 million of Ukrainians were killed. Most of them were civilians. Women, children, elderly. Then also Ukrainian Jews
Germany's defeat in WWII liberated #Ukraine from Nazis occupation. But our country didn't become free, but continued to be occupied by another totalitarian regime — USSR.
Only in 1991 we liberated ourselves from #Russian occupation, when 91% of Ukrainians voted for independence.
30 years later, #Russia refuses to accept that 🇺🇦 doesn't want to be with🇷🇺. They don't let us live the way we want. They're taking away the work that has been invested in our economy and society. They're taking the lives of our people who wanted to live in a democratic country🇪🇺
Because nowadays #Russia despises democracy and human rights. Just like the Nazi Germany.

🧵#russia can't be a member of #UN Security Council.
But they have never been a member of @UN Security Council.
Moreover, they have never been a member of UN. And never joined UN.
#Russia isn't a permanent member of the UN Security Council.
A permanent member of the UN Security Council is a privilege that allows you to veto any decision.
The UN Charter clearly states 5 permanent members of the UN Security Council: the US, the UK, France, China & USSR/2
Yeah, It's the Soviet Union, which disintegrated 30 years ago, that is a permanent member of the #UN Security Council. Legally, it still exists in UN documents.
This is a big manipulation of #Russia.
They've appropriated a seat in the Security Council without any rights to it/3
The information that the civilians will be evacuated from Kramatorsk by trains at this time is public. The russians knew that there would be thousands of people. But to strike at civilians was their goal⬇️
Yesterday at night, separatist Telegram channels warned people of #Donbas that it was dangerous to evacuate from #Kramatorsk and Sloviansk by rail and called for the use of cars.
▫️This morning at 10:13 a video of the launch of 2 missiles was published. It was filmed in Shakhtarsk. This town has been occupied for 8 years.
▫️The first reports of the attack on the #Kramatorsk railway station were released at about 10:45.
Russian troops retreat from near #Kyiv. The Ukrainian army chases them away. New video from the suburbs of Kyiv - Bucha. Dozens of civilian corpses are lying on the roads. Some people with their hands tied. #Russia bastards killed hostages.
The Vienna Convention doesn't work...
🧵Stop believing this “Ukrainians are Nazis” narratives!
This is #Russian propaganda!
The only Nazi army in the world today is the Russian army.
I want to tell you things about the #Ukrainian army that will surprise you⬇️
The #Ukrainian army is a multiethnic army that has united Ukrainians, Georgians, Americans, & even Russians & Belarusians.
There are men & women.
There are left, right, and moderates.
There are Christians, Muslims, Jewish & Atheists.
They're united by the struggle against #Russia
In peacetime, there were more than 57,000 women in the Armed Forces of #Ukraine. This is more than 22.5% of the total army. In Ukraine, women are not conscripts. They join the army because they want to protect our country.
🧵Tread about Red Cross
The Red Cross refuses to help #Ukrainians from Mariupol. At the same time, @ICRC is negotiating with Kremlin to open a center in #Russia to help the #Putin regime deal with forcibly deported Ukrainians in Rostov.
Recently, a resident of #Mariupol appealed to the Red Cross to organize help.
To which he received an answer only a few days later. And 4 days later, representatives of the Red Cross left Mariupol and refused to help the victims.
The response of the Red Cross was in particular:
❌The Red Cross does not organize humanitarian corridors on its own. We need a mediator - a third party, which will not be ICRC.
❌Air and sea evacuations are not considered - there is no such competence in ICRC.
