The 138th daily thread on #Russia's war of choice starts here.
Real signs in the last few days that #Ukraine has levelled the playing (combat) field with the arrival of long range artillery.
Even as I type rockets seem to be landing in Russian held territory. Read on...⬇️
Just 2 hours ago, at the end of yesterday's thread, I reported on explosions again in occupied #NovayaKakhovka where #Russia suffered heavy losses earlier on Sunday.
Now reports of more rockets landing in #Kherson. Yesterday evening #Ukraine pledged to regain land in the south.
1/2 Now a puzzle for you.. Just what is being transported on trains in huge quantities through #Russia?
Missiles/rockets? Logs? Rolled sheet metal? All suggested so far.
Great work @CarolynnePries1 to capture these from a webcam.
This is Uzlovaya, about 230km south of Moscow
2/2 Another load passed through #Uzlovaya just a couple of hours ago.
The Murmansk-Novorossiysk line goes through here. On its way south it virtually tracks the Ukraine border for a while before heading to Rostov and further south thereafter.
This photo has been posted a few times on pro-Ukraine channels in the last few hours.
It's supposed to show Russian soldiers killed at the eastern front, perhaps near #Sloviansk. However the time stamp has been removed and I suspect it's old even if genuine.
Here's the latest design for cigarette packs in #Russia.
Well being in the Z or V units is also bad for your health!
#Ukraine's General Staff released a video from liberated Ivanivka.
The village in #Kherson region was taken back from Russian invaders a week ago. As with all territories which suffered Russia's "peacekeepers", immense destruction.
Very little change to the numbers on #Ukraine's daily estimate of #Russia's losses.
It's not known if yesterday's rocket attacks on enemy positions are included, but doesn't look like it considering they claimed 100 deaths in one attack alone.
#Ukraine's government released this video to get the message across - #Russia has been the aggressor for 8 years.
#Ukraine's Emergency Services published a video of their work, following the missile attack on a residential building in #Kharkiv overnight which killed 3 and injured over 20.
TV presenters in #Ukraine broadcasting live from the ruins of another Russian missile strike.
They spoke to Pavlo Kirilenko, Head of #Donetsk. He confirmed the death toll in #ChasivYar has climbed to 20, with 8 injured. During the night one man was rescued alive from the rubble.
First video clip received from the site of y'day's attack by #Ukraine on Russians in Tavriysk, #Kherson
Serhiy Khlan' a city councillor before the war, claims many soldiers/equipment were destroyed.
But this pro-Ukraine Telegram channel says locals tell them the place was empty
Russia has shelled almost all towns on the #Donetsk frontline today.
#Toretsk was attacked twice and numerous other towns and villages were also hit. Among them, #Bakhmut where the local sports ground was badly damaged.
There are casualties, with many civilian buildings hit.
Not a surprise! Another subtle hint at the Kremlin's real intent.
Conquer all of #Ukraine and if not possible grab and ruin as much as possible, including people.
A grim day in #ChasivYar in #Donetsk where the death toll just keeps on climbing after yesterday's horrific attack on apartments.
30 bodies have now been dragged from the 170 tonnes of rubble removed so far. The search is continuing.
Nine wounded are being treated in hospital
1/2 Extraordinary developments reported in #Kazakhstan where it appears President Tokayev has sided with #Ukraine against #Russia.
Previously he'd said he does not recognise the so called DPR/LPR. As if that wasn't bad enough for Putin, his threats didn't work either ..
2/2
#Kazakhstan suggests it can help the EU to replace Russian oil.
Russia bans oil exports from KAZ.
Tokayev says the oil will bypass Russia cutting them out of any cut whatsoever.
Russia rescinds the export ban!
A humiliating capitulation.
Well played Kazakhstan!
Just in case #Russia thought the day couldn't get worse..
Eyewitnesses report a massive power outage in 6 districts of the Moscow region.
Thousands of people were left powerless Yegoryevsky, Orekhovo-Zuevsky, Sergiev Posad, Solnechnogorsk, Istrinsky and Ruzsky districts.
#NovayaKakhovka - huge explosion reported in the occupied town.
I cannot verify this and it's the only photo or video I can find so far. The time stamp is less than an hour ago.
Quite a lot of chat about loud bangs in the town in #Kherson region.
Day 1194 of Putin's war, though let's remember the initial invasion came 11 years ago.
Since February 2014, not once have western sanctions or military support come close to being enough to restore justice and defeat evil.
Welcome to THE daily 🇺🇦 thread for Sunday 1 June
A new day, a new season. Summer officially started, but nothing is likely to change just yet.
Y'day's thread had some great stories, but everything paled into insignificance when justy before midnight came news of a disaster in Russia's Bryansk region:
Another night of no sleep yet - dramatic action in Moscow.
Time to start another daily thread covering everything to do with Putin's disastrous 'operation' in Ukraine.
It's 5am in Russia and Ukraine, on Day 1190 of the war.
Let's begin...
I've still NEVER missed even one day since the start of Russia's full invasion.
But yesterday's thread ended up being one of the most lively. Another near 50-post story of the day, and if you like seeing "bavovna" in Russia, go right through to the end!
Good morning on Day 1176 of the war in Europe.
In my opinion, Ukraine should have won this war in 2022/23.
Effective leadership is based on good, decisive decisions. Sadly, the allies have never been decisive, preferring dithering and half measures.
Welcome to my daily thread:
What I mean by dithering is endless internal political battles in most countries to give adequate weapons. Scholz (Taurus), Biden (everything) the most obvious examples, though Joe was hampered by Congress and is way better than now
But it's always enough to survive, not to win
If you missed anything from yesterday, catch up with this link to the start of yesterday's thread. Scroll down to where you got to and complete your knowledge!
The start of a new week and simultaneously almost the end of 167 weeks of Russia's attempt to liberate Ukraine from its leader and remove the country from maps.
It's Day 1167 of Putin's full invasion. Welcome to Monday's daily thread.
First the link back to Sunday's thread for those who were busy y'day
It started with Ukraine counting the cost of yet more strikes on civilians and infrastructure but there were more strategic hits on Russia during the day, incl a night attack on Moscow.
