My father was also interested in #stocks. When I was a young child, he and his friends would drink in the evening & discuss about the #Stockmarket. I would listen to them and one day I asked him why do these prices fluctuate. (2/10)
He told me to check if there is a news item on Gwalior Rayon in the newspaper, and if there was Gwalior Rayon’s price would fluctuate the next day.
I found it very interesting & I got fascinated by #stocks, I self-taught myself. 3/10
My father told me to do whatever I wanted in life but at least get professionally qualified.
I was always a reasonably good student so I took up chartered accountancy. In January 1985, I completed my CA. I told my father I wanted to go to the stock market. (4/10)
My father reacted by telling me not to ask him or any of his friends for money. He, however, told me that I could live in the house in #Mumbai and that if I did not do well in the market I could always earn my livelihood as chartered accountant aka CA. 5/10
Between 1986 & 1989 I must have earned Rs 20-25 lakhs. After 1986, the market went into a big depression for 2/3 years but I put that money in Tata Power and the #TataPower stocks became about 1100-1200. (6/10)
Now I was worth Rs 50-55 lakhs.
#SesaGoa had a big fall because there was a depression in the iron ore industry & then prices for the next year had been considerably raised about 20-25%. The stock was available abysmally cheap around Rs. 25-26. (7/10)
There was a projection of a very good growth in profitability in the next yr but nobody seemed to believe it.
When I saw the facts, I wanted to #invest but I did not have capital. (8/10)
I bought 4 lakh shares of Sesa Goa in forward trading, worth Rs 1 crore. I sold about 2-2.5 lakh shares at Rs 60-65 and another 1 lakh at Rs 150-175. (9/10)
The prices then went up to Rs 2200 and I sold some #shares. I did some other #trading too. I had net worth of about Rs 2 – 2.5 crore. - Said #RJ the #Legend#AkasaAir#RIPRakeshJhunjhunwala

The teacher said: "No, introduce yourself."
The student said: "I was your student in the 3rd Grade, I am the one who stole the watch⌚️ of a child in the classroom. I will remind you but I am sure you remember the story." 2/10

A small #Story aka Incident whose morals have more importance during our present fast paced life. #Thread 🧵
A Monk🧘♂️ of the Ramakrishna Mission was being interviewed by a journalist from #NewYork🇺🇸. The journalist started interviewing the Monk🧘♂️ as planned earlier. 1/13
Journalist - "Sir, in ur last lecture, u told us about "Contact" & "Connection." It's really confusing. Can you explain?"
The Monk🧘♂️ smiled & apparently deviating from the question asked the journalist:
"Are u from #NewYork ?"

Journalist: "Yeah..."
Monk🧘♂️: "Who are there at home🏡?"
The Journalist felt that the Monk was trying to avoid answering his question🤔 since this was a very personal & unwarranted question.. 3/13
An Airbus✈️ 380, on it's way across the Atlantic, flies consistently @ 800 km/hr @ 30,000 ft, when suddenly a Eurofighter w/Tempo Mach 2 appears. 1/6
Pilot🧑✈️of the fighter jet🛩️ slows down, flies alongside the Airbus & greets the pilot👨✈️ of the passenger plane by radio: "Airbus, boring flight isn’t it?
Now have a look here - he told! 2/6 Source- via fb
He rolls his jet on its back, accelerates, breaks through the sound barrier, rises rapidly to a dizzying height, then swoops down almost to sea level in a breathtaking dive. He loops back next to the Airbus and asks, "Well, how was that?" 3/6
A small #Story which is a fine example of presence of mind. 🧠
A Professor👨🏫 started his class on a very serious Topic. The moment he turned towards the blackboard, one of the students🧑🎓whistled. He turned, looked at the class & asked the Whistler's name. No one answered. 1/8
The Professor kept the Pen in his pocket saying: "Lecture ends here. I'll tell u a story to utilise the remaining time". 2/8 (story source-FB)
"Yday night I tried hard to sleep💤, but it was miles away from my eyes, so I thought I'd better get petrol in my car, which will save time nxt morning & might induce sleep. After having my tank full, I started roaming in that area, enjoying the peace of a traffic free ride. 3/8
One stormy night many yrs ago, an elderly man & his wife entered the lobby of a small hotel in Philadelphia, USA. Trying to get out of the rain, the couple approached the front desk hoping to get some shelter for the night. 1/11 Story #Thread
“Could you possibly give us a room here?” – the husband asked.
The clerk, a friendly man with a winning smile, looked at the couple & explained that there were three conventions in town. “All of our rooms are taken,” the clerk said. 2/11
“But I can’t send a nice couple like you out into the rain at one o’clock in the morning. Would you perhaps be willing to sleep in my room? It’s not exactly a suite, but it will be good enough to make you folks comfortable for the night.” 3/11
Not sure how many of you remember there was a Detergent bar called #501 from the house of #TATAS.
It had a bright yellow packaging. #Thread#Investing#Finance (1/4)
It was A Tomco (Tata Oil Mills) brand those days. It was named 501 because Tomco chief Jal Naoroji, a nationalist, felt it could do one better than a soap called ‘500’ which existed abroad. The soap was also priced right for the masses at Rs.10/100cakes. 2/4
Later the levers brand wanted to kill the Indian brand & priced their brand below cost which was Rs.6/100 cakes. Jal naoroji didnt bother & waited but in just 3months, the lever company raised their price as they could no longer continue selling below cost. 3/4
