On the occasion of #TeachersDay2022, we would like to remember & highlight some instances of cruel suffering that #Tibetan teachers have been enduring at the hands of #CCP in #Tibet.
#CCP ordered the closure of Sengdruk Taktse school in Darlak in eastern #Tibet where #RinchenKyi was the longest-serving #teacher. Without giving any official reason she was taken from her home on charges of “inciting separatism”.
Kunkhen, a Tibetan #teacher was apprehended by #CCP at the age of 34 & in good health. When he was released on 21 August 2016, his eyesight & hearing were failing & lips gnarled. His waning vision could escalate into blindness. #JusticeForTibet @SolomonYue@SophieHRW
#BREAKING #Chinese authorities are significantly increasing policing, including arbitrary collection of #DNA from residents in many towns and villages throughout the #Tibet Autonomous Region, reported @hrw. @hrw_chinese@KenRoth
The program’s stated goal is to improve healthcare delivery, but in #Xinjiang, the authorities used it to surreptitiously collect en masse the DNA of residents aged 12 to 65.
The celebration continues 2 or 3 days. The celebration includes religious ceremonies & mask dances performed by the monks in #Tibet. @NetTibet@CultureTibet
Dra Yerpa hermitage, about 16km northeast of #Lhasa, is one of the holiest cave retreats. Among the many ascetics who have sojourned here are Guru Rinpoche & Atisha, the Bengali Buddhist who spent 12 years proselytizing in #Tibet. @TibetPeople@TibetCouncil@AartiTikoo
Songtsen Gampo also meditated in a cave, after his #Tibetan wife established the first of Yerpa’s chapels. The peaceful site offers lovely views and is a great day trip from #Lhasa. @freetibetorg@SFTHQ@CanadaTibet
TRC's August Wrap up! In case you missed them, here is a thread with links to everything we published this month.
1/7 On #CCP's history of deploying harsh rhetoric of threat, blacklisting and bans against individuals who raise their voice for Tibet. tibetrightscollective.in/op-eds-comment…
The Deputies were initially assigned to various departments of the CTA and met twice a month. On 10 March 1963, His Holiness – after years of thorough consultations – promulgated the Constitution consisting of 10 chapters and 77 articles. #Tibet
The democratisation of the #Tibetan polity has long been an aspiration of His Holiness the 14th #DalaiLama. He had, in fact, initiated the reforms in #Tibet itself but this was interrupted due to China’s invasion in 1949/50. @Tibparliament
