On the part played by Tamilagam in India’s freedom struggle, today marks an important day. In March 1908, thousands of protesters gathered at Tuticorin to protest against the arrest of Bipin Chandra Pal. Both V.O.Chidambaram Pillai & Subramanya Siva spoke against the atrocities
of British government. It must be noted that British Govt. banned all public meetings during this time. These protests continued even in Tirunelveli despite the ban and another meeting was conducted in "Thai Poosa Mandapam". Infuriated with this, Collector Wynch ordered both
VOC and Siva to meet him on March 12th 1908. During the meeting he asked both of them to apologise for disobeying the govt. order, stop these protest meetings & stop asking everyone to say "Vande Mataram". Both of them refused to do so. Immediately both Siva & VOC were arrested

2)Who wants to fight the British.

It was On 19/1/1922, Gandhi sought to
exclude Indian citizens who were not members of Congress from franchise in the Swaraj that he promised: `Swaraj means, in the event of the foregoing demands (Khilafat & Justice for Punjab) being granted, full Dominion Status.
The scheme of such swaraj should be framed by

India@75 survey: Most Indians feel that Jawaharlal Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi are over-credited for their role in nation building, and Subhas Chandra Bose and Vallabhbhai Patel under-credited.

livemint.com/politics/news/…

@livemint #AzadiKaAmritMahotsav
This sentiment runs the strongest among supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party, which found a large support base in the latest round of YouGov-Mint-CPR Millennial Survey. BJP would be foolish to ignore the sentiments of its support base.

livemint.com/politics/news/…
As far as i have experienced, the BJP and Sangh rank and file admire Netaji. I cant say that for Mahatma Gandhi. By engaging in blatant Gandhi bhakti, the BJP is not pleasing its rank and file and the entire support base.

Today is a day to introduce some forgotten freedom fighters.
They had one common link - all were communists. And they didn’t send any mercy petition to the British.🧵

A message from @prvish

Warm greetings on the occasion of Amrit Mahotsav of independence of our motherland.

A day to remember as many of the brave and idealistic men and women who built, over aeons, this ethereal entity called India
that is Bhaarat and who lived and fought through centuries of enslavement. One lifetime is not enough for this task.

A day to remind ourselves that, in some measure, the enslavement continues in the form of colonised minds, disoriented by the distortions that have crept
into our history books.

A day to remind ourselves of our core values of vasudeiva kutumbakam (the world is one family) and ekam sat vipra bahudha vadanti (truth is one, the wise ones perceive it differently)

This community has centuries-old ties to Indian ethos through Tibetan Buddhism, Hinduism, and other linkages.

As we saw in previous threads, Indian civilization had developed interactions with other ancient societies already a few thousand years ago.

And as the societies evolved, these interactions expanded to include exchanges of ideas on science, astronomy, mathematics, and medicine.
Most of these civilizations had their approach to and methods of medicine.

Even then. Indian medicine proved to be a significant export of ancient India.

In this thread, we will trace some examples of this.
