Walt Disney Feature Animation's Treasure Planet, written and directed by John Musker & Ron Clements (The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Moana), was released 20 years ago today.
This 43rd Disney animated feature film is also one that my followers keep describing as "underrated"...
...every time I talk about it, proof that this movie is well-loved by those who haven't missed it. Yes, it had failed at the box office. But no more excuses: it's now available on Disney+!
It's never too late to board the R.L.S. Legacy (R.L.S.: Robert Louis Stevenson, author of Treasure Island, 1883), especially for its 20th anniversary. #treasureplanet#scifi#disney#spaceship#animation
Treasure Planet (2002): Art by Michael Spooner
The film's failure had concrete consequences: there were never any dark rides at Disneyland, even though the worldbuilding of the film would have lent itself particularly well to it.
And the sequel was cancelled.

Good Night Oppy (Prime) is a beautiful documentary directed by Ryan White, combining archive footage, new interviews and a magnificent vision of Mars by the wizards of @ILMVFX
The story of Opportunity, which was supposed to last 90 sols but lasted 5,352, is thrilling and...
Because we quickly understand why engineers and scientists have considered her a member of the family, and at the end of the film, Oppy quickly joins the pantheon of cinema robots. Except that she existed and is still alone on Mars.
@ILMVFX The documentary highlights not only the technical exploit but also the scientific one, especially what Oppy and her twin Spirit brought to science and knowledge.
A film not to be missed!
On three occasions recently, I learned that people from very well-known studios (VFX, games), and of which I have been a long-time fan, were reading my articles and talking about them among colleagues.
That's all, it was just for brag.
Now if the PR people could do the same thing, that would suit me.
As they generally see no interest in this little weird account while the designers agree to answer me lol
Final mix and picture mastering are now done: 13 years later, Avatar 2 is finished.
This is an opportunity to get a better look at the vehicles, whose designers are almost the same as for the original. #avatar#avatar2#vehicles#design#scifi
As seen in the first image, there is more than one ISV (ship design story coming next month on my Patreon!) this time around, and in a new role.
IXION (Dec. 7): Concept art by art director @Tentazz
The last game I'm really looking forward to this year.
@Tentazz "Producer Christian speaks with Art Director Lucas Terryn and Principial 3D Artist, Arthur Chamerois, about the artistic vision for the Tiqqun and the concept art that has evolved into IXION."
Respect to @bulwarkStudios : they credit artists IN the video!
