Hello and welcome to Day 289 of the inhumane war in #Ukraine.
My day started like this, no power, no WiFi, no signal... Then woken by the schoolboy error of leaving the light switch on, so at 03.45 here I am starting another daily thread documenting #Russia's crimes:
Mind you, Thursday ended like this with friends, so not all bad!
Also here's a pic I couldn't post yesterday, to give you an idea of how tricky it is to move around #Ukraine in winter with no street lights and compacted snow in some areas.
Questions should be asked in #Melbourne about who allowed this event to go ahead.
Thanks to @NMAsiaPac for alerting me to this, but the good news is the tickets were free and boycotting NAFO members have already booked them all!
Still no photos or proof of strikes at the airport in occupied #Berdyansk.
Multiple reports from locals spoke of up to 20 explosions. The town, with a pre-war population of around 100,000 was the first large settlement to be captured by #Russia in February.
US Congress has been told "#Russia is using tactics of ISIS, where terrorists try to kill as many civilians as possible so that people would be afraid to return to their homes."
#Ukraine's General Staff this evening reports around 50 Russian mercenaries were hospitalised in #Luhansk region today alone.
The claim the enemy's injured were taken to #Kadiivka (RU: #Stakhanov) for treatment.
This seems to be from general fighting and not a pinpoint attack.
This evening in #Kyiv a loud explosion worried some residents. But this was a gas cannister exploding at a stall near the Vasylkivska metro station.
At least two people were burned in the ensuing blaze. Another video circulating shows a naked man with his feet on fire.
#Kyiv has finally been able to switch back to the planned power outages rather than the potential emergency total blackout.
However, this is the schedule for where I'm staying. White is when there is power.
Grey you may be lucky!
Another warning to anyone thinking of protesting in #Russia. Putin and his cronies only cling on to power by terrorising their own people as well as those in #Ukraine.
At least the latter fights for its rights. Russians need to rise up.
Every Single Day.
Ukraine's brave men and women on (or supporting) the frontline cannot switch off, so neither shall I in documenting the major events of Russia's horrific war.
As we begin a new week, it's the 1,321st Daily Thread - never missed one yet. So let's dive-in..
Well it's been lively overnight in Russia, with many reports of Ukraine's drones causing problems.
You can see photos and video from those reports at the end of yesterday's thread, which began with more daytime strikes by Moscow's war criminals...
Tuesday 30 September 2025 - it's Day 1315 of Russia's full invasion. That's 3 years, 7 months and one week of Ukraine trying to defend itself against an infinitely bigger army.
But Ukrainians have a just cause and the sum is much bigger than the parts.
Here's the daily thread:
A shorter thread yesterday, with not a lot of ground-breaking news. But still more than 30 posts, you may like to catch up on, such as Russia's moaning about its election interference in Moldova coming to nothing!
Hello again everybody. Are we ready for Day 1311 of Ukraine's defence against the all-out invasion by a Kremlin horde? I know I am, so let's go.
Documenting all the important news, and Russian war crimes, every single day - still never missed one - this is THE daily thread:
You can almost smell the weekend approaching, but first let's look back at Thursday.
Another wide variety of stories, and what a contrast. Almost record numbers of likes on BSky yet way below par number of views here on X.
Review what you missed here:
Good morning on Day 1310 of the full-scale war in Ukraine. But let's not forget Russia first invaded 11.5 years ago and the free world was too timid to defend a democracy from a tyrant, which led us to this position now after far too many wasted lives (and $)
Here's my daily🧵
Wednesday was another busy-busy day.
Too much to detail, just make sure you are up to date, but clicking and scrolling here, but remember to come back.
Russia has managed to attack railway infrastructure and some power targets overnight.
The latest is in Kirovohrad region, where 3 villages are without power after drone strikes. The city of Oleksandriya in the east of the region was heavily attacked.
There were no casualties.
It's taken an incredible effort to maintain Ukraine's independence this long, but we still need to keep pressure up and keep aid flowing.
It's a marathon effort to research & post the news, please support🙏 ko-fi.com/twmcltd
Friday's thread had the first half of Russia's attack - before that we saw Ukraine's partners tightening sanctions, and Putin sending planes in to NATO territory to lead to another Article 4 discussion.
Loads more news too, catch up here if you missed it
Only a 65% success rate for Ukraine's air defence last night.
75 drones were launched by Russia, initially at eastern areas, then attacking Kyiv later in the night.
One UAV is still flying, of the others, Ukraine brought down 48.
