#History, #India#China#Nehru Aksai Chin, a part of India in 1947 created a kind of Kangaroo's lap for Tibet in which it kept safe from prying eyes of the Chinese. Xinjiang- Tibet Highway passed through this land. It was inaugurated on 6th October, 1957.
On 3rd of February, 1958, only a few months later, Foreign Secretary Subimal Dutta wrote letter to #Nehru that there was no doubt that this road to Tibet cut through Indian territory of Aksai Chin. Nehru kept quiet. He had already lost territory in PoK to Pakistan. He knew.
On 4th of February, 1958, five months after illegal construction of road through Indian territory by #China, #Nehru resists formally raising the issue with China, suggests a quiet survey and informally raising the issue with the Chinese.
Any confusion that a dreamy #Nehru, the newly elected landlord of #India might have had about the land, the survey team sent had been eliminated by the Chinese, clarified via a proper note was sent to him by Foreign Secretary, about #china illegally capturing Indian land.
Note dated 18th of October, 1958 says, without ambiguity- a motor road has been constructed by the People's republic of #China, across eastern part of Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir, completion of which was announced in September, 1957. ONE YEAR HAD PASSED, #Nehru is quiet
On 22nd of April, 1959, good 1.5 years from #Chinese incursion in Aksai Chin, question was raised in the #Parliament by Congress MP, DC Sharma 'If there was any border dispute between #India and #China', #Nehru said-'On one or two minor dispute over tiny tracts, here n there'
When members including #Vajpayee wanted to have an half an hour debate on the matter, #Nehru flatly refused to have the debate. He said he had written to #china and they should wait till they get a clear revert. He KNEW China has captured #AksaiChin 1.5 year before.
This matter was already making its way into the newspapers. Brijraj Singh, on the refusal of #Nehru to grant 30 minute debate, asked pointedly, on whether there is truth that #China has captured around 30000 Square Mtrs of Indian Territory, Nehru lied, denying it.
#Nehru happily lived with his lies and failures for another 6 months, and on 7th of September 1959, he presented a white paper in the #Parliament. And after that, two years of loss, and lying, the flurry of activity started to protest this unilateral annexation by #China.
Failing all attempts by #nehru to claim back the territory lost through historical evidences, matter came for debate again on 5th December, 1961, months before sad 1962 debacle. Nehru claimed opposition did not understand the subject. Nehru defended his support of #China in UN🙏

The little six year old, broke herself off from brutal arms of the men who did not look like any she had ever seen. 'I am a princess. Bow down you rude men.' She shouted. But all she could get in response was men with strange look in their eyes.
She had seen affection in eyes of the men, she had seen anger in the eyes of her father, She had seen reverence in the eyes of the men. but these men, with those blood-red, angry eyes, looked at her in a different way, in a way she could not understand. /2
Then there was a man who looked similar to them, he directed these cruel men to step back, and when he spoke, his words offered some safety but no compassion, no affection, no reverence.
'She is for the royal harem. Let her be. Will take time to get used to.' She looked around.
