#Russia's losses in the last 24 hours (estimated by Kyiv) show very little equipment destroyed but still insane amounts of conscripts and mobilised soldiers killed.
An explosion in #Enerhodar this morning which looks to have killed one person.
The victim was likely the driver of a waste truck, which may have been hit by an IED. #Ukraine channels reckon it's a false flag operation by #Russia's Occupiers.
Overnight shelling in #Kherson hit the popular Epicentre supermarket.
Just another civilian target from the Terrorist State.
The exiled Mayor of #Melitopol has told #Ukraine's war 'news marathon' TV programme that "all hospitals are full in all of #Zaporizhzhia region and that the invaders had to start using sports centres.
Yesterday alone 8 more KAMAZ trucks full of injured soldiers were brought in.
#Germany's government has approved the supply of 88 Leopard-1 tanks to #Ukraine.
However they may not be much use. They cannot supply enough ammunition. The shells are a different calibre to Leopard-2s and no longer manufactured.
Imagine being in #Bakhmut right now.
Such small pleasures being such joy.
It's wonderful to see the embattled locals being able to enjoy clean running water (sort of), wash clothes, take a hot shower and even get a haircut. #SlavaUkraini#BakhmutHolds
1/2 This morning I reported on an explosion in #Enerhodar with a man killed.
It's now confirmed an improvised explosive device was used and local #Ukraine patriots have claimed responsibility for the death of 'collaborator' Yevgeniy Kuzmin.
Earlier Washington confirmed that #Ukraine's latest military "shopping list" has been taken care of!
Sadly F-16s were unavailable, but everything else is supplied. The precision-guided rockets highlighted are GLSDB offering Ukraine even longer range firepower.
Nice photo from earlier today in #Kyiv.
During a break from the official business of the EU summit, President @ZelenskyyUa and President of the European Council, @CharlesMichel share a moment. Or is it @Denys_Shmyhal? They look identical😅
Canada has imposed sanctions on 16 businesses and 38 individuals, almost all involved in spreading propaganda and disinformation.
Journalists, actors and singers are among the people targeted.
#Turkey's exporting vital electronics components and machinery to #Russia despite sanctions.
The @WSJ concludes "at least 13 Turkish firms exported a total of at least $18.5 million worth of items" including at least three shipments of goods from the USA
Another night of no sleep yet - dramatic action in Moscow.
Time to start another daily thread covering everything to do with Putin's disastrous 'operation' in Ukraine.
It's 5am in Russia and Ukraine, on Day 1190 of the war.
Let's begin...
I've still NEVER missed even one day since the start of Russia's full invasion.
But yesterday's thread ended up being one of the most lively. Another near 50-post story of the day, and if you like seeing "bavovna" in Russia, go right through to the end!
Good morning on Day 1176 of the war in Europe.
In my opinion, Ukraine should have won this war in 2022/23.
Effective leadership is based on good, decisive decisions. Sadly, the allies have never been decisive, preferring dithering and half measures.
Welcome to my daily thread:
What I mean by dithering is endless internal political battles in most countries to give adequate weapons. Scholz (Taurus), Biden (everything) the most obvious examples, though Joe was hampered by Congress and is way better than now
But it's always enough to survive, not to win
If you missed anything from yesterday, catch up with this link to the start of yesterday's thread. Scroll down to where you got to and complete your knowledge!
The start of a new week and simultaneously almost the end of 167 weeks of Russia's attempt to liberate Ukraine from its leader and remove the country from maps.
It's Day 1167 of Putin's full invasion. Welcome to Monday's daily thread.
First the link back to Sunday's thread for those who were busy y'day
It started with Ukraine counting the cost of yet more strikes on civilians and infrastructure but there were more strategic hits on Russia during the day, incl a night attack on Moscow.
Day 1163 of Russia's war of choice, invading a peaceful neighbour.
Another bloody and murderous night in Ukraine, but the pressure is all on Russia today as Ukraine signs the minerals deal, the US (finally) continues its shift against Putin and the oil price dives
Here's THE🧵
Good morning and happy May (or MayDay).
I have to say a new month brings new optimism for Ukraine following the US/Ukraine agreement.
That was the biggest news story of a near 50-post thread.
It took me ages - least you can do is read it!😂
Day 1158 of the war in Europe.
This is the daily thread for Saturday 26 April, and as I mentioned last night, the anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster.
A later start today, sorry if I kept you waiting, but let's waste no more time...
Yesterday we saw Russia attack civilians of course, but we also probably also got a reminder of the power of Ukraine's Military Intelligence, as a Russian general and a weapons designer were both confirmed dead.
