Day 346 of the #RussiaUkraineWar - thanks for reading the start of another daily thread.

Today starts with news of what looks like #Ukraine strikes inside #Russia.

First though the link to Friday's thread in case you missed anything:

So, straight to the breaking news: a big fire to report in #Belgorod region of #Russia.

An oil depot is ablaze after shelling. The plant there is known to have produced metal parts for the Kerch (#Crimea) Bridge.

#StopRussia
Another short clip of the fire, which is growing by the way, in the north of #Belgorod region.

it's about 120km from the border with #Ukraine in a town called #Borisov.

No official comment yet from #Russia.
#Kherson has been hit again within the last 15 minutes.

Three explosions reported. Grads likely fired from #Oleshky on the Occupied left bank.

#RussiansGoHome
I'm trying to be a bit more positive today. There are so many good people and stories in #Ukraine.

Can't say this is a good news story but helping make the bad news just a little easier.

This morning I heard "TV vet" Scott on BBC Five Live in a surprisingly emotional interview.

It also highighted some of the unseen problems such as "orphaned" or abandoned pets now having pups or kittens of their own in the wild.
Geat work from @btc_int

The total number of dead Russian soldiers has now passed 130,000*

It's only 44 days since the 100,000 landmark was reached.

So today's 720 is still slightly up on the daily mean since then.
Destruction of three AAWS also notably

*Estimated by #Ukraine
Last night locals in #Kramatorsk and #Sloviansk were again being urged to evacuate.

If #Ukraine pulls out of #Bakhmut these twin cities will be right on the front line.

Nothing is sacred for #Russia - even the church in Kramatork is damaged (the small sign says "mines☠️")
Last night it appears there was a new strike on #Russia's bases in #Zaporizhzhia.

Black smoke rose "for several hours" over neighbouring villages of Novokarlivka and Inzhenerne, about 10km from #Polohy

It's also known a railway bridge in Novokarlivka was damaged the day before.
Much of #Odesa city and the region is without power this morning after "an accident"

Officials stress there were no strikes by #Russia, but a substation is on fire, causing outages in the Suvorovsky, Primorsky, Malinovsky districts of #Odessa and part of the wider region.
Thank you to Ali, Carolynne and David for submitting story suggestions via DM today - indeed it was Carolynne who spotted the last one.

If you have a tip-off, drop me a line.
#StandWithUkraine
UK Intel highlights another fairly pointless announcement by #Russia.

It's all designed to give the impression to their own soldiers and the domestic audience back home that "everything is going to plan"

P.S. they fail to mention none of the 4 regions is under total🇷🇺 control🤡
In #Belgorod they're trying to downplay the scale of the huge fire in #Borisov

The Governor said “A civilian industrial facility in Borisov was attacked by #Ukraine. The fire was contained... Thank God that no one was hurt"

The yellow "terrorism" threat is extended indefinitely
More good news - 116 Prisoners of War have been returned to #Ukraine in the latest swap deal

Andriy Yermak from the President's Office says they are "defenders of #Mariupol, #Kherson partisans, snipers from #Bakhmut area"

Two of the released are officers, 114 privates/sergeants
USA's Attorney General Merrick Garland has confirmed #Ukraine is to get the value of forfeited assets of a Russian oligarch for the first time.

It follows the indictment of Konstantin Malofeev for evading sanctions. Millions were seized from Malofeev's US bank account.

LOL. I hope this is true.
Someone (pretending to be) from #Ukraine's Security Service hacked a regional meeting of the Occupiers, informed the meeting they were on the wanted list and blasted the Ukrainian National Anthem.
Those who smiled could be in trouble😅
The bodies of British humanitarian volunteers, Chris Parry + Andrew Bagshaw are back in #Kyiv.

There was a memorial service in Kyiv this week. There's a lovely article about UK/NZ national Andy here inc a video of the 2 working

stuff.co.nz/national/30079…
A nasty accident in #Kyiv where an ambulance has overturned.

It had its emergency lights on when hit by the black car. The patient in the ambulance was unharmed but the driver was injured.

#StandWithUkraine
You can't help but laugh.
The people aspired to be like Americans, admired the way of life in the EU and UAE.

But now one propagandist says No! Be more North Korean!!

#Kherson - photo from the remains of Epicentre supermarket.

It was shelled earlier this week, with a huge fire then engulfing the whole building.

A source from within the #Wagner group confirms what I wrote a couple of days ago - the mercenaries are now struggling for recruits.

Quite a detailed report here in the Mail plus video on the situation at the eastern front.

#Ukraine's army loves TikTok.
Well to be more accurate they love watching #Russia's troops record videos of their locations, such as here.
It was soon geolocated and now the TikTok stars are deleted from life according to ZSU.
Oops, this missed the thread, so including it now:

The first Leopard-2s from #Canada are on their way to #Ukraine to help defend and then take back the soveriegn territory from #Russia.

#StandWithUkraine #StopRussia
Strong rumours in #Ukraine tonight that #Zelenskyy may be about to replace his Minister of Defence @oleksiireznikov.

These are only rumours but from the same MPs who predicted other departures successfully. They believe Reznikov will be moved to the President's Office.
Tomorrow Kyivans will be able to use electricity without restriction until 4pm.

I cannot remember the last time this was the case.

The situation in #Odesa, after the earlier fire at the substation, has improved also. But there will be emergency power cuts there tomorrow.
Also in #Odesa region today, a barge laden with 860 tons of wheat sank.

The #Romania owned vessel reported water began to flow into the engine room while it was in the port of Reni. Five Romanian sailors escaped.

#StandWithUkraine
Whether he loses his role or not, #Ukraine's Defence Minister indulged in some top trolling today!

#Russia's army thought these would stop #HIMARS rockets!

Cycling's governing body couldn't wait to invite Russians and Belarusians back into competitive action.

To assuage its guilt the UCI has given €600,000 to #Ukraine's federation to help them train. If they dodge the bombs and bullets.

uci.org/pressrelease/t…
UPDATE
...Of the 18 member management committee of Cycling's Governing body, it just so happens one is Russian, one from Chine and among the others a Cuban and a member from UAE.

UCI says the decision to readmit cyclists from #Russia and #Belarus was unanimous.
Still quiet this evening.

I wasn't going to include this but as there's not so much in today's thread, here you go.

#RussiaOnFire - only an apartment block where 3 flats went up in flames.

This is in #Troitsk, south-west of #Moscow.

Hello again, thanks for visiting my Ukraine thread on Day 1353

Views/likes are down on both sites I post on: possible war fatigue

It's exactly what Putin wants from the world - to wear us down so we accept a deal to stop the killing
This will embolden Putin & hasten war v NATO
Here's the link for Thursday's thread.
It was a day which saw Ukraine inflict a fair amount of damage on Russia's energy sector and the crisis is nearing for Putin as it cannot export oil.

The energy crisis for Ukraine is about people surviving winter:
I'll start with the battle for Pokrovsk, as DeepState updated the map 40 mins ago.

Zero change in the lines since yesterday.
That's excellent for Ukraine but I fear the cost.

Of course things constantly change in the grey zone but no breakthrough.
Situation today vs a week ago Image

Welcome to November, which becomes the 46th different month to see fighting in Ukraine

And yet Russia is nowhere near its aim of Kyiv in 3 days.
Indeed 1,344 days behind schedule as we start today's thread on Day 1347 of the full invasion

Please think about sending a KoFi💙💛
Friday saw a lot of damage in Russia, an attempted counter-attack in Pokrovsk, Trump blank Orbán, power cuts in Moscow and so much more.

Clicking here⬇️will take you to the start of yesterday's🧵. Scroll through, catch-up then remember to come back here
Ukraine claims to have damaged a key Russian oil pipeline at Ramenskoe in Moscow region.

Their video shows all 3 (gasoline, diesel, aviation) fuel lines of the 400km Koltsevoy pipeline blown up.

The first pic shows guards patrolling, the second shows the explosives attached..

Hello again, on Day 1346 of the war.
Russia's genocidal war, that's both the intent and the reality as Ukraine fights to keep not only democracy, independence and freedom but also to avoid its culture and language being eradicated.

This is THE daily thread. Happy Hallowe'en
Due to various different events, I am still awake & instead of adding to y'day's thread, I thought it best to start a new one, then get some sleep.

First, the link for Thursday's🧵which started with Russia's mass missile attack but ended with🇺🇦 attacking
A quick reminder the first serious blow struck by Ukraine's long range weapons, came in Oryol.

A power plant was struck, though Russia told its people it was only drone debris (again)

Russia will not stop until it's stopped.
The war ends the moment Russia leaves.
Russia lies repeatedly (we won't invade Ukraine, we didn't kill Litvinenko, didn't kill 300 on MH17, didn't use Novichok in the UK etc etc)

We MUST NOT trust Putin.

Day 1345. Here's my daily thread
It's proved a very difficult morning for Ukraine, especially in the west. Russia tried to ensure misery and destruction, hits everyone across Ukraine.

At dawn missiles rained down, the start of the overnight attack was covered at the end of yesterday's🧵
There has been another big attack on Ukraine's energy sector with DTEK saying thermal power plants in various regions were hit.

They say it's the 3rd massive attack on the company's TPPs in October.

Various missiles and drones were fired by Russia. Image

It's Day 1336 of Russia's full invasion, but that only started because the world didn't provide a deterrent almost 12 years ago when Putin first tested the west's response by invading Crimea

The west failed the test. Are we about to fail the biggest exam too?
It's Tim's daily🧵
There was a big drone attack on western Russia last night, with Rostov in particular feeling the heat

There was also plenty of heat again on Russia's largest gas facility, the Georgian 'government' doing Russia's fascist work, and an a tragedy in Kherson
Ukraine was subjected to 6 missiles and almost 100 attack drones overnight.

None of the 2 ballistics, or 4 S-300 missiles was shot down

Of 98 UAVs launched, 3 were still flying.
Of the remaining 95, just 58 were stopped = 61%

Russia's 37 drones and 6 missiles hit 10 locations Image

An explosive start to Day 1334 of Russia's 10-day operation to erase Ukraine from the map.

Not quite #EATP for Putin.
An early start to Sunday's thread as we have news from central and eastern Russia.

All the news, all the time, every damn day. Here we go again!
So much happened yesterday and the fireworks really started in the last couple of hours.

Do yourself a favour and have a quick skim through what you missed from Saturday's news about Ukraine's battle for survival. Incredibly only 14,000 views😳🫣

Two major hits by Ukraine this morning, way, way back, deep into Russia.

Those with me a few minutes ago will already know some of the details but we have a few more sights to show you, starting in Orenburg.

Here, locals say a gas plant has been hit by drones. Image
