Day 368 of Europe's war and welcome to Sunday's daily thread with all the information you need in one handy🧵

It's still fairly quiet in most of #Ukraine as #Russia continues its illegal war.

Here's the link if you want to catch up on yesterday's events

The death of another American soldier has been confirmed in #Ukraine.

28-year-old Afghanistan veteran Andrew Peters from #Wisconsin died 10 days ago while helping Ukraine defend its territory. Andrew was part of the International Defence Legion.

Each day #Ukraine releases figures for the numbers of Russian soldiers killed and equipment destroyed.

Invariably it's lower at weekends. So today's numbers (covering Saturday's losses) are lower across the board. I'm wondering if a couple of units don't report at weekends?
Ukrainians are saluting a new football hero this morning!
FC Lviv's Oleksiy Dityatyev, at a training base in Turkey, removed #Russia's flag from the flagpole!

He said "Very soon, the Armed Forces will do this in all the occupied cities. In the meantime, let's start with Turkey"
Forbes (note, the #Ukraine edition) estimates that #Russia spent around a third of its entire annual budget on the war.

The authors worked out the bill for the illegal invasion is about $10 billion a month.

#BakhmutHolds.

Let's take another look at #FortressBakhmut, as a remarkable drone video is doing the rounds on the internet.

I cannot vouch for authenticity or date etc., and obviously the soundtrack doesn't match the haunting film.

#Bakhmut Is #Ukraine
More heavy shelling by #Russia in the #Kherson region in the last half hour.

This censored video is from #Komyshany just west of Kherson city, while Bilozerka, just 5km further west is also being pounded.

#StandWithUkraine #RussiansGoHome
Hundreds of tons of western aid has been found rotting in warehouses in #Kyiv.

An investigation's been launched into how and why it was "forgotten"

It's estimated 500 tons of food, military equipment, household chemicals, and medicines have been left there. Theft is possible.
It's been revealed that #Germany has given 6 more BIBER bridge-layers and Zetros trucks to Ukraine.

The updated list of aid provided was published this morning by the German government.

Another of #Russia's fighter jets seems to have "denazified" itself.

So far unconfirmed reports that an Su-25 has crashed - the pilot managed to eject safely.
"Within 10 days" #Ukraine will receive 14 transport helicopters from #Croatia

Twelve MI-8 MTV-1 helicopters and two MI-8 T models have been taken out of the Croatian military according to this report, markings have been removed and they're being serviced

A 30 year old Russian corporal from Nizhny Novgorod has reportedly absconded after being mobilised.

He was in #Belgorod region bordering #Ukraine, presumably waiting for transfer to the front line, when he disappeared with a Kalashnikov rifle.
An 82 year old resident of #Kupiansk was injured during the latest shelling of #Kharkiv region.

#Russia also hit the village of Pershotravneve in the #Izium district with artillery. More private homes were damaged.

#RussiansGoHome
#Poltava region in eastern #Ukraine has been criticised by many in the country for its' apparent reluctance to carry out anti-Communism measures.

Now though in #Khorol, local officials dismantled a monument to Soviet General Ivan Tretyak.

#StandWithUkraine
Almost forgot to include the British Intel update, and it's quite interesting today.

In essence it's not news, about the destruction of many of #Russia's elite fighters around #Vuhledar (RU: #Ugledar), but the detail about degraded units will be very encouraging for #Ukraine.
#Ukraine's PM says Government will be reformed with fewer ministries and employees.

Denys Shmyhal noted "Ukraine should not only ask for money, but also demonstrate internal changes."
It's important to ensure it's not just used to oust critics.

Dear @elonmusk,
I saw you refer to ex-President of #Ukraine Yanukovych as having been a victim of a coup. It's very disappointing to see someone with 130m followers repeating #Russia's nonsense. So I wrote this essay to help people understand:

Explosions reported at a military airfield in #Belarus

BYPOL, a group of reformers, says a Russian military transport aircraft and snow-plows were damaged at "Machulyshchi", just 12km from the capital #Minsk

Now, locals say a lot of military and police crews are at the airfield
This is allegedly an employee of #Russia's embassy in Rio de Janeiro, slapping the backside of a young woman who came to protest against the war on #Ukraine.

First he demanded the phone, then chased the other girl, but a policeman then seems to reprimand the employee.
Yet another attack on a military enlistment office in #Russia.

Around 3am in Sosnovy Bor in the Leningradsky Region, a man in dark clothing and a balaclava threw 2 molotov cocktails at the building. Only one caught fire and the premises were reporetdly undamaged.

#Estonia's Defence Minister arrived in #Kyiv today

@HPevkur came bearing more gifts. A new package given to #Ukraine includes assault rifles, pistols, drones, thermal imaging cameras, generators and chargers, as well as clothing.

Estonia spends 1% of its GDP aiding Ukraine
Met Matt on my last trip to #Ukraine.
Doing good work. Keep it up!

A #Ukraine soldier has been killed in a shootout at the border with #Belarus.

It's reported by the usually reliable DeepState channel. The dead man was a member of the Volyn Territorial Defence, obituaries say he died of a gunshot wound from the territory of Belarus.
More from the attack on the airfield near #Minsk

It seems either #Ukraine or #Belarus patriots attacked an AWACS A-50 aircraft at Machulishchi. This plane is air-defence, used to protect other bombers and fighters.

The photo shows where they think 2 explosions hit the aircraft.
#Ukraine shoots down a 300th Russian plane since the full invasion began.

President @ZelenskyyUa announced in his evening address to the nation "I'm especially grateful to our guys from the 110th separate mechanided brigade, who shot down another enemy plane near #Avdiivka."
The #Russian air warning plane was hit by partisans within #Belarus using drones, according to the Head of the protest group which first reported the incident.

The people responsible for the attack have already left the country according to Aleksandr Azarov.
(post translation)
Air raid warnings in #Kyiv and some other neighbouring regions.

Reports of air defence working in the capital and #Chernihiv with drones, thought to be Iranian shaheeds, attacking
Strong explosion reported in #Zaporizhzhia. Could be two blasts, possibly from S-300 missiles again.
The fear in #Ukraine tonight is that this latest drone attack is a prelude to another large scale missile attack.

#StopRussia
#RussiaOnFire

No photos yet, but reports that a hangar has "exploded" in the north-east of #Moscow after diesel containers exploded.

it's reported that the structure has already partially collapsed.

No injurie reported.
This is the moment a missile is thought to have hit #Zaporizhzhia a little earlier. Still no official confirmation.

It's Day 1336 of Russia's full invasion, but that only started because the world didn't provide a deterrent almost 12 years ago when Putin first tested the west's response by invading Crimea

The west failed the test. Are we about to fail the biggest exam too?
It's Tim's daily🧵
There was a big drone attack on western Russia last night, with Rostov in particular feeling the heat

There was also plenty of heat again on Russia's largest gas facility, the Georgian 'government' doing Russia's fascist work, and an a tragedy in Kherson
Ukraine was subjected to 6 missiles and almost 100 attack drones overnight.

None of the 2 ballistics, or 4 S-300 missiles was shot down

Of 98 UAVs launched, 3 were still flying.
Of the remaining 95, just 58 were stopped = 61%

Russia's 37 drones and 6 missiles hit 10 locations Image

An explosive start to Day 1334 of Russia's 10-day operation to erase Ukraine from the map.

Not quite #EATP for Putin.
An early start to Sunday's thread as we have news from central and eastern Russia.

All the news, all the time, every damn day. Here we go again!
So much happened yesterday and the fireworks really started in the last couple of hours.

Do yourself a favour and have a quick skim through what you missed from Saturday's news about Ukraine's battle for survival. Incredibly only 14,000 views😳🫣

Two major hits by Ukraine this morning, way, way back, deep into Russia.

Those with me a few minutes ago will already know some of the details but we have a few more sights to show you, starting in Orenburg.

Here, locals say a gas plant has been hit by drones. Image

Hello on Thursday morning, 16 October 2025.

Russia is now going all out to make life unliveable for Ukraine's citizens, destroying all energy and heat infrastructure it can.

While Ukraine hits energy targets too, it's almost all to hit Russia's exports/finances.

Here's the🧵
Day 1331 is well underway: I hope we can penetrate the algorithm and get people to actually see today's🧵

Yesterday, views for the 1st page is at 16k, about half what it should be. Please quote tweet or repost various posts during the day

Catch up here:
Last night I wrote of a possible hit on another refinery.

In the last couple of minutes, Ukraine has confirmed the strike in Saratov, which they say directly supports Russia's army.

It's refining capacity is almost 5m tons.

Every Single Day.
Ukraine's brave men and women on (or supporting) the frontline cannot switch off, so neither shall I in documenting the major events of Russia's horrific war.

As we begin a new week, it's the 1,321st Daily Thread - never missed one yet. So let's dive-in..
Well it's been lively overnight in Russia, with many reports of Ukraine's drones causing problems.

You can see photos and video from those reports at the end of yesterday's thread, which began with more daytime strikes by Moscow's war criminals...

I'll start with the numbers as Ukraine launched more than twice as many drones as Russia overnight according to official defence figures.

Moscow says it downed 251 UAVs, while Kyiv reports 116 long range drones fired by Russia, of which 83 were stopped (72% success)> Image

Tuesday 30 September 2025 - it's Day 1315 of Russia's full invasion. That's 3 years, 7 months and one week of Ukraine trying to defend itself against an infinitely bigger army.

But Ukrainians have a just cause and the sum is much bigger than the parts.

Here's the daily thread:
A shorter thread yesterday, with not a lot of ground-breaking news. But still more than 30 posts, you may like to catch up on, such as Russia's moaning about its election interference in Moldova coming to nothing!

Yesterday I showed the remarkable downing of a Russian military helicopter by an FPV drone - the price disparity is also incredible.

That hit is included in today's table of Russia's losses during the war, but elsewhere numbers are a little lower. Image

Hello again everybody. Are we ready for Day 1311 of Ukraine's defence against the all-out invasion by a Kremlin horde? I know I am, so let's go.

Documenting all the important news, and Russian war crimes, every single day - still never missed one - this is THE daily thread:
You can almost smell the weekend approaching, but first let's look back at Thursday.

Another wide variety of stories, and what a contrast. Almost record numbers of likes on BSky yet way below par number of views here on X.
Review what you missed here:

Today let's start with some damage in Russia.

Ukraine's drones were probing various places during the night and found another way through to the Afipsky oil refinery.

The Krasnodar region continues to be a good hunting ground in recent days.
