If you are a Canadian and you vote conservative, you could have a memory loss: Harper, Serial Abuser of Power: The Evidence Compiled
The Tyee’s full, updated list of 70 Harper government assaults on democracy and the law. thetyee.ca/Opinion/2015/0…
If you are a Canadian and you vote conservative thinking trickle-down economics can save Canada you could have memory loss:
6 charts show Stephen Harper has the worst economic record of any Prime Minister since World War II pressprogress.ca/6_charts_show_…
If you are a Canadian and you vote conservative maybe you have a memory loss about the staffer for the Conservative party charged and convicted in the Harper era #PierrePoutine #robocallscandal deliberately designed to create #votersuppression. cbc.ca/news/politics/…
If you are a Canadian and you vote conservative maybe you have forgotten that #taxcuts lead to #inflation. They only help the rich and reduce the government services on which lower-income individuals rely.
Conservative Party of Canada Policy: keep the "Fiscal Balance" (which it introduced in its 2007 Budget while in government) in place and eliminate national debt. However, tax cuts reduce government revenues and create either a budget deficit or increased sovereign debt.
If you are a Canadian and vote conservative you may not recall the politics behind Stephen Harper's fixation on a #balancedbudget. Harper tried and failed to build a reputation as a solid economic manager and ended up running a #deficit.
What are the economic policies of the Conservative Party? Fiscal conservatives advocate #taxcuts, reduced government spending, free markets, #deregulation, #privatization, free trade, and minimal government debt.
#Deregulation is the reduction or elimination of government power in a particular industry, and that leads to the elimination or reduction of #environmentalprotectionregulations and #consumerprotectionregulations.
The danger of #deregulation is that without adequate policing of complex technical processes, the public is left to the mercy of the market. Other disadvantages of #deregulation are lower standards, market failure, and monopoly power.
#Deregulation in the financial industry was the primary cause of the 2008 financial crash.
1/2 The idea that conservatives are better economic managers simply does not stand up. Harper’s poor economic record can’t be blamed on the 2009 recession, it’s the slow recovery under Harper that’s to blame.
2/2 The #regressiveeconomicpolicies like those instituted by the Harper government: austerity, cuts to public spending, tax cuts, suppression of workers’ wages and a narrow focus on the resource sector are ones we Canadians should all want to avoid repeating.
Persistent unemployment, flat job growth, no wage increases, and an absence of stock market booms or highs are evidence of #economicstagnation. We aren't experiencing stagnation under Trudeau's govt.
The #unemploymentrate in Canada held steady at 5% in January of 2023, just shy of the record-low 4.9% observed in June and July 2022, and below market forecasts of 5.1%, signalling that the Canadian labor market remains stubbornly tight.
Canada's #jobgrowthrate in real GDP is projected to slow from 3.2% this year to 1% in 2023 before strengthening to 1.3% in 2024.
“The average salary structure increases forecast for 2023 in Canada now sits at 3.2%, excluding organizations that decided to freeze their salary structure, compared to an initial forecast of 3.0% last summer,” the report reads. dailyhive.com/canada/salarie…
Some other surveys, however, show employer pay increases set to pick up this year. A fall survey by research firm WTW had average estimated salary increases rising to 4.6% in 2023 from actual pay rises of 4.2% last year.
Canada regained many of the jobs lost during the pandemic, but there remain 960,000 unfilled positions across all sectors. This is a clear sign that we have a strong economic need for increased immigration. Immigration and Canada’s economic recovery https://www.
Growth in real GDP is projected to slow from 3.2% in 2022 to 1% in 2023 before strengthening to 1.3% in 2024. Higher borrowing costs will weigh on consumer spending while export growth moderates in the near term amid deteriorating conditions abroad.
Standard & Poor's #creditrating for Canada stands at AAA with stable outlook. Moody's credit rating for Canada was last set at Aaa with stable outlook. Fitch's credit rating for Canada was last reported at AA+ with stable outlook. cont'd ⬇️

After 9 years & 8 months in office, Harper's govt got the boot, largely because Harper's economic record was the worst economic record of any Prime Minister since World War II.
So, if you are a Canadian and you habitually vote conservative please don't do so in the next election.
@PierrePoilivere's continual dishonest sniping at Trudeau for things he has no control over (cost of living) is easily done, but when it comes to pointing to and expanding on CPC policy and how it would better benefit our Canadian economy he's a lame duck with nothing to quack. @Limbictweets I stayed up late watching all of the proceedings of #TheProcedureandHouseAffairsCommittee on #ForeignElectionInterference and admire how skillfully the Chair Bardish Chagger has handled MPs Micheal Cooper's witch-hunting and continual interference by speaking over witnesses, etc.
@Limbictweets MP Michael Cooper is at it again today and IMO he's attempting to hijack proceedings. And, the audio has failed. I cannot hear at all 🤬
@Limbictweets I have audio on youtube and this is NOT a computer issue. What happened to the audio?

1/3 #cdnpoli It's important to note that an independent panel of five senior public servants, working with Canada's national security agencies, did not find #electioninterference that affected Canada's ability to hold free and fair elections in 2019 and 2021.

2/3 No serious voice is saying that those elections were decisively affected by foreign malfeasance. Asked by reporters on Wednesday whether he accepted the results of the last federal election, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre said he did.

3/4 Fife claims he received a CSIS report and won't identify the source so his allegations are based on a "report" by a "leaker", a report we cannot see. Contrary to Poilievre saying he accepted the results of the last federal election the Conservatives are now alleging ⬇️

1/2 FOLLOWERS: Have you noticed that your notifications of comments have been rendered useless by @TwitterSupport algorithm changes? When you click them you are unhelpfully sent to the responder's profile page. contd ⬇️
2/2 I'm visually challenged so to find which tweet/ thread has been commented on I have to use the search function & that too has been mucked-up. So now Twitter has accessibility issues created to stop discussion flow. It's been redesigned for single-response style bot trolling.
How are you dealing with these changes? Are you leaving multiple tabs open so you can follow and respond more than once to a tweet/thread?

@PierrePoilievre didn't post it on his Twitter feed but condemned 'vile' views of Germany's @AndersonAfDMdEP in the media.
POLL: Will @PierrePoilievre remove CPC MPs Dean Allison, Colin Carrie & Leslyn Lewis who met with Anderson at a paid dinner from the CPC caucus?
Pls Comment
@globalnews @CBCNews @CTVNews @NatObserver all reported Poilievre denounced 'vile' and 'racist' views of @AndersonAfDMdEP who met with 3 of his MPs, 2 of whom (Lewis & Allison) have postured that didn't know who she was or what she believes.

🧵Just the facts. #BritishColumbia #VancouverFraserPortAuthority. Truck Licensing System.
In discussion with Transport Canada, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority will defer implementation of the #RollingTruckAgeProgram by a final six months to April 3, 2023.
The Port of Vancouver was the first port in Canada with stringent #environmentalrequirements for port container drayage trucks to #reduceairemissions, implemented by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority in 2008.
The key environmental requirement for truck approval in Truck Licensing System target truck age restrictions. The #truckexceptionapplication process available for trucks older than 12 years and will grant extensions of up to two years. portvancouver.com/wp-content/upl…
