Monday was pretty quiet and this morning has started the same way in #Ukraine, with no major news to report overnight, with no update on the drone attack in #Crimea
So let's look at #Russia's daily losses. Almost 1,000 troops: tanks and artillery system numbers above average too
The British daily update uses polite language to effectively say "can you imagine what it's going to be like in #Russia in coming months: psychopaths, drug abusers and thieves are back on the streets, with many of them now suffering PTSD too. Good luck!"
Update from #Crimea
Occupiers have imposed a State of Emergency in #Dzhankoy.
#Russia claimed it shot down the drone last night with only slight damage to one shop and one house.
Just days after the ICC issued war crimes arrest warrants, 15 #Ukraine children have been returned home.
Ombudsman Dmytro Lubynets says in total 308 have "returned to the territory of Ukraine" however he did not say if these youngsters had been in #Russia or an occupied region.
The @nytimes obtained documents showing #China sold $12m worth of drones + accessories to #Russia since the invasion of #Ukraine
DJI drones account for almost 50% of drone imports by Russia and shipments continue though the company said it had stopped.
Continuing the culture of fear in #Russia, they're rushing to make surrendering a crime.
State news agency RIA novosti reports anyone not offering resistance, who allows themselves to be captured, will in future face up to 10 years in jail.
Here's something very controversial.
A UK government official has admitted they will be supplying highly-controversial uranium-depleted ammunition to #Ukraine
It's highly effective at breaching tanks' armour, but has been linked to cancer.
A couple of months ago #Russia warned it would regard the use of uranium-depleted ammunition as a 'dirty bomb' and "will be harshly responded to by Moscow."
Musk does it again! #Ukraine's military says Starlink terminals are no gro-blocked and won't work in the Occupied zones, even though this is sovereign Ukrainian land.
The report by the Economist says Ukraine now has to use a range of other, more expensive, comms options.
But still a distinct lack of detail or assurance.
The Five Eyes Intelligence soon worked out Ukraine would resist #Russia's initial invasion, and have now had 12 months to get top equipment to Ukraine.
Today I went back 48 hours and saw so many replies which had not shown up when I last checked this morning. Not sure what Twitter does with the algorithm and why some are "hidden" from me for a while. This was happening pre-Musk.
A very short clip said to be from #Zaporizhzhia after the reported missile attack on the city earlier.
Still no official comment from #Ukraine officials.
More attack drones are threatening #Ukraine right now.
Explosions reported in #Odesa - contrasting reports about whether it was a UAV being shot down or one of the kamikaze drones hitting the Shkolny military airfield in #Odessa.

Welcome to my daily thread, covering all things #Ukraine every single day since even before the first day of Russia's full invasion.

More atrocities overnight, let's begin:
For those loving people who urge me to get more sleep, you will be pleased to know there was no alarm this morning; I am refreshed and ready to tackle JD TRussia again.
A busy Friday ended with news of the awful attack in free Donetsk, catch up here:
Today sees the completion of 3 years of full scale war unleashed by #Russia on #Ukraine.
As signs point to an end to this war relatively soon, the ONLY question which should be asked is: are you happy to reward war-criminal terrorists with land?
Here's THE daily thread:
It's Day 1096 of #Russia 's war.
If you missed anything yesterday, catch up on Saturday's news here:
1/2 The #UK is in full focus today.
As @Keir_Starmer prepares to fly to Washington, new sanctions will be unveiled tomorrow.
Foreign Sec @DavidLammy says it will be "the largest package of sanctions against #Russia since the early days of the war eroding its military machine."
Day 1083 of the war in Europe and the 1083rd of my daily threads.
Three years ago we knew #Ukraine wouldn't go down without a fight. Now, for the first time in over a year there's genuine reason for #Russia to be worried about the outcome.
Plenty to learn and from in Sunday's thread.
In #Russia, ships crashing and exploding, faking capture of a key town in #Ukraine and late at night drones attacking again.
On the other hand, Moscow attacks civilians. Take a look at what you missed:
While #Ukraine hurt #Russia infrastructure during the night (covered at the end of last night's thread), the terrorist state still has success with its own drone attacks.
More than 11% got through 🇺🇦defences overnight, with 38 of 71 UAVs being stopped and 25 likely decoys.
Sunday 19 January is Day 1061 of #Russia's all-out war in #Ukraine. We are also just 2 weeks away from the 4,000th day since #Moscow's initial invasion with the start of its illegal takeover of #Crimea
Welcome to another daily thread with all the news you need in one place 💙💛
Thankfully a quieter start to Sunday than yesterday, which means I get a later start today.
Saturday was all about #Russia's double ballistic attack which brought death to 2 #Ukraine cities.
